a bit weaker than Yojimbo, but still an amazing movie. while it is a bit of a slog at points, the final 30 minutes lead into a 3 minute finale that makes it all worth it. the edo period court drama would likely appeal to me more if i liked political dramas. toshiro mifune is, as always, beautiful and amazing in his role. i enjoyed how a lot of this was basically beef that took place within a single block.
