Ok, so, first off, I apologize. My original intent was to do a writing jam today, or at least have a fic done, but Family Stuff got in the way, so it didn't happen. So today's "Thing I Will Probably Never Write" is the outline for the fic I had in mind. Maybe I actually will get around to it at some point, maybe I won't. But I didn't wanna have nothing to post today, so here we go.
Possibly at the Flower Banquet right after the war.
Ye olde fantasy fire alarm system goes berserk at some fuckall o'clock hour after the opening ceremonies/meal.
Half the people who show up have wine headaches already, some of the people who show up clearly got "interrupted".
Jin Guangyao, Wei Wuxian, the guards, and some of the servants are the only ones still in full day clothes.
One kid in the gathered crowd loudly points the finger at another (either to cover their own ass, or spite or whatever), second kid immediately denies and blames someone else, arguments break out.
Meanwhile the fire alarm system of talismans and arrays and whatnot has to be reset, which is a pain in the ass for all involved.
During the commotion, Nie Huaisang finally wanders up to ask his brother what the hell is going on (he takes medication when his springtime coughing spells don't let him sleep, so he's groggy and currently dressed like this, barefootedness included).
Some people notice his current state and get a little too interested, particularly one sect leader no one wants to be interested.
Even though Jin Guangyao has been voluntold to oversee the crowd, he immediately clocks that his dad's considering something gross.
Protective Yandere Mode activated.
Instinctively, he and Nie Mingjue both move to block any view of Huaisang.
Naturally, their reasons for doing this are very different, but they won't be discussing that. Ever.
Nie Mingjue goes one step further and removes his outermost robe, dropping it over Huaisang's head like a hooded cloak to better hide his half-dressed and sleepy condition.
The fire alarm system finishes getting re-armed, the crowd mostly starts to disperse, but some are still looking a little too close despite Nie Mingjue and Jin Guangyao both silently radiating "Try it, bitch."
Nie Mingjue steers his brother back towards their sect's visitor rooms, but Huaisang gets the chance to thank/apologize to Jin Guangyao for showing up messy before they round the corner.
Jin Guangyao is already mentally making plans to make the most of this incident the next day.
