#CeanothusCyaneus AKA #LakesideCeanothus. Finally, a #ceanothus that almost comes out right in photos! But that’s probably because the color is an unreal shade of indigo. This species is endemic to certain parts of San Diego county and apparently a couple of parts of northern Baja California as well. It’s rare and unique to just this tiny little part of the world. It’s the only ceanothus in the county still blooming right now as all the rest have gone to fruit, but even if it bloomed at the same time as the others you would immediately notice that it’s much darker, bluer and more purple than any of the rest. The inflorescences are noticeably pointier and longer and the bark is sort of a lightish green too so it’s kind of easy to notice even without the flowers.
