Novafrost is an interesting model. He has a more cutesy, chibi silhouette, with chubby cheeks and thick limbs that give a stylized look. His eyes and head are huge, and looks like he should be much smaller in scale than he is. It reminds me of the way Adrienne Kress’ “Dreams Come To Life” depicts the Bendy mascots at the dinner party.

“Each mascot was around six feet tall, maybe taller. They looked off. Not in the right proportions. The way they looked didn’t match their images in my head. It didn’t match the cartoons. They weren’t meant to be oversized like this. Weren’t meant to be life-sized.”

Novafrost shares this unsettling trait, with him being almost as tall as the original DCAs while having the proportions of a model half their size. Novafrost’s theme is looking innocent on the surface, but being much more unsettling in the details, which also reflects his backstory and character. His eyes are cute, sure, but it also has the effect of always looking like he’s staring at the camera, which is even more pronounced in their frost form. His mouth is a wide grin with razor sharp teeth, and his chubby limbs and giant hands are built that way to crush and smother people to death. It reminds me of the way Circus Baby is proportioned.

She not only has those thicker arms and legs, but also looks way out of proportion. She looks like she should be much smaller than she is. You can really get a sense of scale in the VR game, when you are trapped in a closet with her looming over you.

Character-wise, Novafrost behaves in an innocent, childlike fashion, especially when attempting to direct away from the murders he commits. Nova is very giggly and flirtatious with people, and when caught doing something he wasn’t supposed to, he acts oblivious to the situation, or tries to turn the blame back onto the accuser. He gets very whiny and hiccup-y when he’s forced to confront the fact that he is a child murderer.

Frost is usually much more reserved than Nova, and either denies the situation or cowers like a kicked puppy.
