Day 8: When What You Think is All That Matters. #samarashiloh, again teaching lessons as we...well I, attempted to work on this puzzle with her. I could quickly see that she had no intention of "following the rules" or making her picture look like the one on the package. As she did her thing, and proceeded to tell me, "mommy, I don't need help," and put the pieces wherever she felt, I became mesmerized watching her work. When I asked her if it looked messy, she said proceeded to tell me with conviction, "no, see my mommy, it's pretty...it's pretty." To which I confirmed, "yes baby, it is pretty." I began to think of Samara's picture in the grander scheme of things. How many of us are living our lives staying in the lines, matching the numbers with the corresponding piece? We are married by this time, have children by this time, have this job because...well it's what we are suppose to do...even if we don't like it. We make this money, drive this car...live here...hang with these people...essentially live our lives set by standards other than our own. I am determined to help Samara to continue to think and live outside the box. Be an independent thinker and live the authentic life God is calling her too.
