Sometimes, I'll see people say something about Sam and/or Evan and will credit it to their friends or the school or the world, and they are heroic characters, but they are also characters that have each other's backs specifically, too.
Like, I see and hear about Sam stabbing Tad heroically and she did, BUT she did this specifically because he'd just hurt Evan and she was defending him. She didn't stab Tad for the world or the school or even the room.
Danielle said, "Now Sam's pissed," which was very much in the same vein as going after Wuegen when he scared T2. And I think she cares about all of her friends, but I think she cared about Evan a little more deeply, because actually fought for him. She don't even physically fight for herself, but she slayed a monster, in wrath, mind you. Not duty or obligation.
People remember when Evan kills for K (it was such a more dramatic description, so I get it), but Sam has killed once, and people keep forgetting that she did it for Evan. She picked up his weapon and followed stabbing advice he gave on a tangent.
When she can't recall that happening and she witnesses Evan kill Boudica, after her initial freak out, one of the first things she does is asks Coggle not to say anything, because she's worried that it will make people think badly about Evan.
Evan wants to be able to give his all for his friends and fight for them and defend and protect them, but I think that the more he thinks about it, Sam has been doing the same for him, in a way that we don't get to see her do for the others. And, it makes ME feel!
