2 and 19 insteadddd (since I accidentally doubled up the other ones)
I mean, I'll happily yap all day. So...(:
2. Popular OTP that you only BroTP
Lucavrin! I like that they become friends but the enemies-to-lovers doesn't do it for me, I'm sorry. Also Bellara x Neve...I like that they're friends/sisters. Idk, nothing about it feels romantic to me. Do these count as OTPs? idk but they're popular and I'm speaking my truth.
19. What is the one thing you hate most about your fandom?
Umm I'm tempted to steal yours. Sometimes people take it to seriously? Which isn't to say you shouldn't analyze it but sometimes it isn't that deep. Because I'm airing out my feelings (and was talking about this with someone today), I find it really frustrating when people act like Templars are like a 1:1 for police/police brutality?? I'm sorry but a world where some people (mages) are born being able to shoot fire out of their hands there's just not a 1:1 comparison. Mages are a little dangerous and I get why people might be scared of them.
Also the Veilguard critical people who love to make bad faith arguments that are, at times, so absurd they read like satire (:
4, 5, and 9 for the salt asks please!!!!1
Hi! Thank you for asking! I'ma put the answers under a cut.
4, 7, and 22 for the salt asks please!!!
Thanks for the ask!
I answered 7 HERE
4. Do you have a NoTP in your fandom? Are they a popular OTP?
Solavellan. Again, sorry. I just can't. I don't like that Lavellan is kept in the dark about who he is, I don't like that he can take her vallaslin without her fully knowing the truth behind why (the explanation he gives isn't enough for me), I don't like that it ends in heartbreak and abandonment. And don't even get me started on the Lavellans that pine after him for 10 years and give up their entire life to join in him in the Fade. No. Just no. I'm not going to hate on anyone that likes it, to each their own and everything, I even have an oc for him (though she moves on after DAI), but I beg people to stop shoving it in my face as the only ship that matters and trying to convince me it's the best.
22. Popular character you hate?
This is a hard one, because I don't fully hate any character. There are definitely some I like less than others, or just don't care about that much. But it would be hard to say I hate any of them.
So I'm going to twist the question a little, and go with a popular character that I'm just tired of. Varric. Don't get me wrong, I DO like him. But having him as a companion in two games and then showing up again in a third...it's just too much. Sorry to all my Varric loving friends, like I said, I do like him! I'm just so tired at the same time. He's interesting, but I don't think he's that interesting.
Mod update :)
Hey everyone! The other day we talked about handing off the blog to someone else. This got tricky as we wanted to do right by you.
We’ve ended up adding three new mods. Before, we had me (Saltmin), Secretmin, Catmin, and a mod who hadn’t chosen a name (now Minmin lol). Now we have added Bunnymin, Chaosmin, and Dinomin! This should help a looot.
The reason historically I haven’t done mod apps or anything like that is that it’s so high risk. For someone to be a mod, I have to give them access to quite a bit of sensitive information. This always made it feel impossible to add new people, so I just added people based on vibes when they offered to join as a mod.
Sorry for the jumpscare about handing over the blog. I posted that in a moment of defeat. We discussed that very briefly after all stating our irl overwhelm. Thank you if you sent kind messages, they’re so sweet. 🙂 and if you offered to help out, thank you so much for that as well!

salty asks: 5 and 14?
5. Has fandom ever ruined a pairing for you?*
Not the ASOUE fandom, or any other fandoms I been. One fandom gotten close though: the Persona fandom. Some pairings I'm neutral on are always on thin ice get close to this, or pairings I do like/love get push towards 'neutral'. I guess that's what happens when a majority of the ships there are teenagers/young adults.
14. Unpopular opinion about your fandom?
While tempted to bring up one for the already mentioned Persona fandom, I'll use this to talk about one I have about the ASOUE fandom. It's honestly more of a personal nitpicking of observations I find irritating, but I figure I can say it here:
I wish the fandom, or rather parts of the fandom that focuses exclusively on Netflix ASOUE, tags it as such. Again, it's a personal nitpicking of observations, because the amount of time I see something that is 100% about Netflix ASOUE (especially in the past) that doesn't get tag as such gets/got on my nerves.
So let's for example, I see and read a headcanon post that brings up Jacquelyn Scieszka. The post also brings up other VFD members, like Sally or Hector, or has elements that is book-verse. I like and/or reblog it, because I understand the OP incorporated Jacquelyn into their headcanon as an enhancement (or something else, like her being R). I don't mind that Netflix ASOUE isn't tag here, because the context I understand from the get-go: a combination of the two continuities.
(While I'm a book-verse heavily fan, I do like elements of Netflix ASOUE and incorporate them into my headcanons. Those sorts of posts are up my alley, in a way.)
However, if the headcanon post bringing up Jacquelyn Scieszka doesn't mention other VFD members like Sally or Hector, or reading the full context to see it's 100% about Netflix ASOUE due to elements that are clearly Netflix ASOUE only, my annoyance level rises, and...I move on. I'm not the person to go into someone ask box and say 'hey, would you mind tagging this as 'x'?'. They have the right to tag anything as they want.
I just wish they would tag it accordingly. But oh well. you can't always get what you want.
@gellavonhamster tagging you so you can find this ask. Thank you for sending it in!
19 for tangled the series, please
The one thing I hate the most about the TTS fandom is their refusal to acknowledge, tendency to excuse, or straight out denial of, the horrific actions of characters in the Series.
I understand why. Very much so. Tangled the Series is written manipulatively to favor certain characters, even if their actions are morally wrong. As a result, the viewers of the show are influenced to feel the same way without question.
As I mentioned above, there are other members of the fandom who are in downright denial of the horrible actions of some of the characters. Again, this too, I understand. Many people don’t want to believe that the compassionate Rapunzel would allow her friend, much the less a child, to be thrown out into a deadly snowstorm and abandon him in the months to follow. They don’t want to believe that the compassionate girl shown in the movie would condemn said friend after he embarked on a dark path and remain unable to see the good in him.
People also use Rapunzel’s trauma as an excuse for her actions. While yes, it is a reason, her trauma and sheltered lifestyle are not excuses for how she mistreats people. While her actions and inactions are understandable, she is to blame for never learning from her mistakes and correcting them. Especially when lives are at stake.
People don’t want to believe that the compassionate, motherly woman Queen Arianna is depicted as in the Series wouldn’t reach out to Varian while he was in prison. That she wouldn’t see the child in need of help instead of the criminal her kingdom has condemned him to be. Like her daughter, they do not want to believe that a woman depicted with such a compassionate nature, did not see the good in Varian and refuse to extend that compassion to him.
Even Fredric is treated in a similar way. Many members of the fandom cling to the excuses that the show has given us, such as “he’s a father” or “he was just trying to protect his family.” I think the reason the fandom protects Fredric, is because of his status as the father of the protagonist, and, as I mentioned before, the show manipulates us into siding with him despite his horrendous actions. As a result of Fredric’s status as the protagonist’s father, members of the fandom desperately want to believe that he is the misunderstood father that the show insists he is. Of course, I also think people just want to take the show’s word at face value because of their positive attachment to it.
However, if you consider yourself a good person, a kind individual, it’s more important to stand by the moral values that we claim we hold than to justify a fictional character’s wrongdoings just because you want to like them.
The evidence throughout the show is stacked against the characters. We see Rapunzel stand by as she allows her guards to throw a child into a snowstorm. We are given no indication that Rapunzel ever attempted to visit Varian after the snowstorm. We see and hear Rapunzel condemn Varian with our own eyes and ears the moment he turns to villainy. We hear the malice in her tone when she says Varian’s name. We see the look of utmost hatred on her face. We hear her say “After everything he’s done?!” and “Varian, how could you do this?“ in the season 3 premiere. These aren’t the words and actions of a compassionate person. This isn’t somebody who “knew there was good in Varian all along.”
When we see Varian in “Rapunzel’s Return” he is crippled with guilt and has joined a Terrorist Organization. He believed that the only way he could ever be forgiven for his transgressions is by erasing the memories of the entire kingdom and everybody he wronged. By the time season 3 airs, Varian has realized his mistakes and yearns to make amends. Had anybody, including Queen Arianna, reached out to him, I have no doubt he would have accepted, eagerly. However, the fact that Varian was so convinced that nobody would ever forgive him, and that he had to turn to Andrew, of all people, for forgiveness, tells me that nobody ever reached out to him.
Nobody, including Arianna, ever gave Varian the impression of forgiveness, or any kind of acceptance. The fact that he turned to Andrew, tells me that there was nobody else to turn to. That there was no opposing force that presented Varian with another, healthier option. Based on all of this, I do not believe that Arianna was this kind, compassionate, surrogate mother figure to Varian.
A man who uses military power to prevent their child from leaving home, reads through their private journal and proceeds to use the information garnered to send guards to follow their every movement, and retraumatizes them by locking them in a tower after they spent 18 years of their life that way is not a good father. Not even a misunderstood one. That is an abusive parent.
A good King does not remove a dangerous magical artifact without caring about the consequences it would have on their people. While I can understand the urge of a father and husband to save his wife and unborn child, that does not excuse letting a destructive plague rampage your kingdom 18 years after your child and wife survive the birthing process. He’s a king, and he actively and knowingly stood by and allowed his people to suffer for many years. A good King does not send his guards in disguise to chase a child out of his home in a political coverup. Especially if that child is orphaned and alone. As King, Fredric should have done something to help Varian, Quirin and Old Corona as a whole. Chasing Varian out of his home was not “protecting Rapunzel.” Since when is ignoring a threat to your kingdom and persecuting a child “protecting” your daughter?
A good and fair King does not order a crackdown on crime to locate his missing child. Aside from the fact that if you want to try and locate a kidnaped child and their kidnapper, you should conduct it through a widespread, yet proper, investigation, Fredric just ripped criminals off the street and threw them in prison and worse. He wasn’t even successful in locating the true kidnapper. He only destroyed countless lives. This is not only improper, but it is horrific and morally wrong.
Fredric tore families apart. He separated parents from their children and inflicted trauma that would last for generations to come. Lady Caine witnessed her father being loaded into a cart “like an animal“ she described it. I can understand it when a 14 year old lashes out and hurts people to regain his only family, but an adult, a king with all the power in the world had no excuse. Lives and people were destroyed.
Just because Fredric didn’t get his hands dirty doesn’t mean he isn’t responsible. These aren’t the actions of a good father or a good king. These are the actions of a monster and a tyrant.
People should know that it’s still possible to like a character, to have a favorite character, while still acknowledging that they did bad things. I know that for many people, it’s just too terrible to comprehend, much the less acknowledge, that these characters, who we are supposed to believe are compassionate people, have treated others with such cruelty and heartlessness. However, if we want to be good, kind and compassionate people, we need to collectively acknowledge the behavior of these characters for what it is. I genuinely believe that the majority of people in the TTS fandom are good people. We need to stand by our own morals, rather than justify the morals and lack thereof of fictional characters for our own peace of mind.

You're trying to get me killed, aren't you?
Unpopular Opinion about my fandom is that most people don't get just how amazing it is that the rich, blond boy protagonist is also sensitive, empathetic, and understanding. As opposed to entitled, condescending and self-righteous just like every other copy-paste rich, blond boy archetype I'm expected to feel sorry for because the bad thing is affecting him now. Instead of being because he's just a likeable character with relatable problems and-
... Y'know I'm gonna stop there.
