@fangoftofu​ submitted: Came across this fellow with a damaged wing today. I didn’t want to take him in without knowing what he is and what he’d need for food, so I put him on a tree with a lots of moss and lichen, close to where we found him. I hope he’s doing okay.

That doesn’t look too bad, it may still be able to fly just fine! Or possibly it’s already mated and its at the end of its life anyway. It’s a sallow moth, though, most likely Feralia deceptiva. :)

Yup, totally normal November night in New England, me out at the moth light tonight with a t-shirt on...at least the wear-and-tear on this bicolored sallow (Sunira bicolorago) is indicative of it being autumn...
