The storm sirens were going off. And going off. And going off. Fucking annoying. I was looking for my Breakfast at Tiffany’s ear plugs and scrolling weather. (Just because you’re an old bitch doesn’t mean you can’t have awesome stuff.)

I posted to Facebook, “Tornadoes are f*cking stressful” and clicked over to tumblr. My husband was standing in the front yard (because he is a genius). He said, “I see debris!”

Me says: What?

“Stuff is flying over us.”

Me thinks but does not say: If things are truly flying overhead why are you still in the yard?

I saved that last Tumblr post just as the tornado was passing over.

So if you saw a picture of a wrecked Kroger in Little Rock, that’s my Kroger. I was there earlier today. All those photos of the blown apart stuff… all around me.

But.

We are unharmed aside from losing our Xfinity connection, thus my ability to post an update. (I’m writing this in note.) We didn’t even lose power. However 75,000 in Arkansas are without power,

61,000 in Pulaski County alone.

That’s the thing with tornadoes. They will fuck one street up completely and leave the next one untouched.

What did we do while we were waiting for the alarms to die?

When you live in Arkansas long enough you have plenty of tornado war-stories to share. It’s like a severe weather version of bullshit, where you say a lot of “Oh, yeah? Well one time…”
