someone with an urban dictionary account needs to go fix the definition of sadstuck. cause it aint that
"sad fanfic". too narrow. it is (was?) a genre of discussions/art/fics of homestuck, specifically focused on picking apart the terrible things the characters went through.
homestuck's pacing very rarely paused (heh) long enough for characters to really process shit before moving the story along. so, the sadstuck hashtag was where fans went to say "hey wait. this part was actually really fuckin sad when you think about it.. let's think about it some more >:o)" and "what if the characters DID get time to process things? what would that look like?" and "please let this child cry ohmygod".
during the Gigapause, fans had PLENTY of time to post sadstuck while waiting for the next upd8. #sadstuck did get used a little by other fandoms, but from my perspective, it was very brief and has gone back to only being a homestuck thing.
my word is not law and my perspective is limited. so maybe I'm completely wrong and have forgotten everything about the homestuck fandom in its heyday. if so, my bad. I like my interpretation of sadstuck better than that 1 downvote urban dictionary definition.
