MASUworks 13 / The Sabbotage issue

March 2021 Drawing from the day when someone decided to sabotage our public sculpture work in the Kronoskogen forest in Ängelholm, Sweden. We (MASU) went there and spent two days cleaning and repairing. New shapes, new flows opened so in the end it all turned out ok.

Still annoying tho. Drawing will be part of new publication.

Frustrated communication in Kronoskogen

In February (2021) someone who really did not like our sculptural work in the forest, decided to start tearing it down. No pliers or other tools, just force, resulting in many broken laths. Even though we are in the process of moving the laths within the project (Material) Site Recordings we still decided to go to Kronoskogen early March to clean and repair.

At first there was anger, and we reported the incident to the police.

We opened a FaceBook-event with a call for a meeting and a talk about Art in our shared space. No one showed up, but we had a conversation in the forest thinking about what it means to sabotage someone else’s work and why art creates such strong feelings.

I am going to try to keep this specific to one show and one person specifically. As a women who wants a broad media literacy program at every level of schooling I think that there is one thing that we need to understand and tackle. Why do we hate each other, as strangers, for no reason? I have never quite understood why Women judge each other on another scale of harsh compared to men. I never…
