oh great. this couldn't get any worse. not only was she at one of the most boring parties of the years - that her parents had insisted she attend to make up for the bad press the incident had brought on the stevenson family and her reputation in particular - but she was also stuck, in a corner, her empty glass of champagne in her hand, as maxwell, one of her parents' -grandparents' ? - friends told her the same story she had heard since she was born. about how he had invested at just the right time and that's how he was here now, in lovely company. ew. looking around the room to pass the time as he droned on, her eyes fell on a too familiar silhouette. fuck. if she was here, then nevermind what she had said about that night. it definitely could get worse. before she had the time to look away, sofia's eyes caught her staring. well. guess her night had just gotten way worse.
