               as always, she wasn’t paying attention. her music was in her ears as she was grocery shopping, and her song had came on. everyone in that aisle now had to be on the lookout for a small blonde girl shaking her ass and absolutely not looking where she was shaking it. with a pack of shredded cheese in her hands, kennedy accidentally knocked into another shopper. she cheese promptly fell to the floor, and whatever the other had been holding was now on the ground as well ken froze and turned around quickly, her hands over her mouth for a moment. “ wow, oh my god, i’m so sorry! i’m such a freak, i wasn’t looking at all. ” 

               she’d gotten tunnel vision again. a line of lyrics had come to her and of course out came her pink notebook and pen. her cursive was hardly legible, her fingers zipping over the pages and leaving notation marks for the sound in her head. she’d nearly forgotton that was with someone else. her attention was grabbed away and she looked over at them. “ oh, hi, yeah what were you saying? ” she smiled, though it was obvious she’d been ignoring them for the last couple of minutes. eyelash batting would get her out of a scolding, right?

                           “  why d-don't we do it in the road? why don't we do it in the road? Why don’t we do it in the road? why don’t we do it in the road? ” her voice was light and airy, opposite the song’s original raw power. she didn’t want anyone to hear her singing it as she bounded down the hall to wash her clothes. she’d been watching across the universe and listening to nothing but the beatles for a whole week. for some reason that was the song her mind had latched onto to hum as she did chores. “ No one will be watching us, why don't we do it in the road? ”

           “ okay, okay i’m done now, i swear. ” she giggled,                tears nearly coming out of her eyes from how                hard she was laughing.

           “ you must think i’m a raging idiot, huh? ”

           “ fuck, you must be sleepy or something cos                 i don’t understand a single thing you’re                 saying, ”
