Meredith’s stepmother - aka like literally the only good parent she has ever had in her life - just died. And the reaction of the man whose sperm led to Meredith’s creation (that bitch doesn’t deserve the title “father” in any way or shape) was to slap Meredith in the face and blame her for the death.

Like, I get misplacing your anger when someone unexpectedly dies, but onto your daughter? And then coming back the next day to tell her that she is not wanted at the funeral? Holy shit, I hate that man so much.

And Derek’s reaction to all of that was to get... upset because she’s not paying attention to him? I understand that problems in their relationship have been rising since she nearly died a bit ago, but holy shit, he sees a pretty girl at a bar and flirts with her, in a way that shows he is genuinely considering going with her, and then he tells Meredith about this to rub in that flirting with that stranger was “the highlight of [his] week”.

Who... Who does that. Why would you do that.

Your problems started on literally the day Meredith died, actually physically was dead for multiple minutes, and then lost her biological mother. I’m not a big Meredith stan but gods damn it, she was going through a lot before this week.

And this week?

This week where her stepmother died and her sorry excuse for a ““father”“ slapped her in the face and forbade her from going to the funeral? This week where, on the very day of the funeral, she was also writing the biggest test of her current internship? This day, which is the literal day before her best friend’s wedding?

I’m sorry, but... your girlfriend is going through a fuckload of things and has a lot going on. And you shouldn’t feel hurt in your ego that she isn’t paying attention to you then (even though she was. In the days prior to her stepmother’s death, she was the one making efforts here while he was dodging her).

I’m sorry that your girlfriend can’t give you a highlight of the week while coping with her mother’s death, her own death, her stepmother’s death, her biological creator’s complete failing as a father in any capacity of that word, studying for and taking the most important test in her young career so far and preparing for her best friend’s wedding. So sorry she didn’t pay much attention to you there.

I totally understand that Grey’s Anatomy is a rom-drama and that you need drama in the romance, but writing your lead’s love-interest, who was gentle and supportive so far, to be such a self-centered dick while simultaneously writing your lead to go through all of this trauma and drama is genuinely just so forced.
