Another thing I've just noticed and like immensely is the subtle function of the score towards the end of this episode.
There's this light, twinkly, haunting tune that begins when Goodsir examines the lines in Morfin's gums. It continues as we watch Hickey limp back to his hammock, find the twist of tobacco, and realise that he still has allies out there. And it finally ends with Crozier sitting in darkness, staring into the abyss.
When you think about it, those are some of the biggest threats the Expedition faces, right?
Lead poisoning and debility. A man who has nothing left to lose finding that he may still have the means and the support to gain revenge at least. And a captain so beset by addiction and depression as to be incapable of leading effectively.
All those threats about to come to a head and all linked by that one eerie musical motif.

Staying as normal as possible as Daemon walks in the Iron Throne courtroom with messy shortened hair.
"If it wasn't for us being downwind of them, that would've been it for us too..."
Ooh aren't you a fuckin' hero? Check out Billy Big-Bollocks over here, bravely and luckily surviving an incredibly dangerous situation he purposely put himself and others into! Oh, the cruelty and hardship he's suffered (deliberately, by his own independent choice).
Get so completely fucked ya wee fud!

Might just be imagining it but there's some tiny, almost indescribable similarity, I think, between Sophia's speech in this episode and Franklin's in the one before?
"You're Irish. You're middle-bred. The Church of England gives you hives..."
vs
"You complain in the safety of speculation, you claim foresight in disasters that never happen, and you are weak in your vices..."
The cadence is similar enough that it made my ears prick up all of a sudden, and of course there are parallels in the content too - both of them are telling Crozier things about himself that he doesn't want to hear or confront and are doing so because he's left them no other choice.
Forgive me yet more ass-blurry screenshots and allow me to just say that I like the specific way this is shot with just poor Nedward being shut out.
