Okay I'm pretty sure I don't have any Canadians following me but if there are any, all of you, please, I need you to write your province's senators to tell them that senate bill S-209 desperately needs overhauling before it's useful or safe. We all know about what happened in the UK recently with the age verification requirements. That is what section 12(2) of this bill is!!!
This is a Senate bill and it's made it past its second reading. It is currently in committee and has a very very real chance of getting past its third reading and onto the House of Commons. This bill has good intentions but desperately needs changes. Go through the bill, pick two or three things you want changed or removed, and email your province's senators saying what you want changed and why. Then email you MP saying the same thing because they will have to approve this bill once it gets to the House and we have to do everything in our power to stop them from rubber-stamping this bill in its current form.
Are you American (or from elsewhere)? You can absolutely still write a Canadian senator or MP and tell them you're worried about your friends in Canada.
Are you British? Please, please also write Canadian senators and MPs and explain to them the harm that your bill has caused you and how worried you are about your friends in Canada.
Example of some of what I'm writing under the cut
