Bajune Tobeta presents: Memories
Ryuichi Sakamoto collaborator Bajune Tibet’s “Memories” is a stitched together lo-fi piece build from layered electronic textures and a subtle beat and fragments of piano instrumentation
Anechoic is the upcoming release from Tokyo-based composer, producer, and acoustic researcher Bajune Tobeta. It will be released August 14, 2026 via CROIX Co., Ltd. / electric sheep.
The record explores the space between sound and silence, drawing from lo-fi electronics, contemporary classical composition, and piano to create a work that feels both intimate and vast. The album takes its title and opening track from the concept of the anechoic chamber, a room engineered to absorb all reflections of sound.
“Memories” is the second single from the album, and is a stitched together lo-fi piece build from layered electronic textures and a subtle beat and fragments of piano instrumentation. "It came together intuitively, almost like assembling half-remembered images. I wanted it to feel like something familiar that you can't quite place,” he days.
Having studied under Ryuichi Sakamoto for many years in Japan, Tobeta has spent three decades researching the relationship between sound and human consciousness, translated this concept into music: a fusion of orchestral instrumentation and electronics that renders silence itself as a compositional element. The album features mutual Sakamoto collaborator Fennesz.
