it's been like 3 years since i posted a drawing of my fav big bros staring passionately at each other, so here is another (i'm playing fates and awakening again!)

In my experience, it seems like all the Ryoma/Xander shippers unanimously decided that Ryoma tops (for the most part, at least) and Xander bottoms. This is unique from every other ship that features them, particularly Xander.

Why do you think that is? What do you think it is about their dynamic that this makes sense to you as a default?

While I bear in mind that this is a ship for a game from which everyone has long since moved on, it seems to me that I’m one of (seemingly) few who still thinks about FE14, nevermind thinks about roles for anyone. And it seems I’m the only one who always figured that Xander tops by default, and Ryoma bottoms.

You're right that I haven't thought about that pairing in a long time. Even when Fates was current it wasn't something I considered too deeply; it's just the logical M/M royal pairing if the twinky bishonen younger brothers don't do it for you.

Purely guessing here, but maybe Xander is more often the bottom because he's got more obvious woobie/angst material to work with, and characters like that end up as bottoms more often? I don't really have a solid opinion on this one, so it could go either way as far as I'm concerned.
