Sniper No Nation thoughts
how dare they!! I can't even - ahhh!!! good lord! and there's a freakin part 2 but they don't tell us when! well technically it's part 3 since it started in Last Stand but yea. I can't believe the implication of thomas being killed!! I thought he'd make it out of every movie. but can also understand him sacrificing himself for brandon. the rest of it was alot of politics, action, but the action was amazing as always. brandon & zero did a practice sparring and brandon acted like zero got him in the injured side zero goes "why you gotta mess with my emotions like that". I agree! I know they wanna protect her and intel pete but the only way out of this is if he calls LD 'cause as much as they don't want her in danger with the price on her head she's literally the only one better than him who can get both of them out besides thomas or the colonel. i'm really not surprised zondi turned on brandon. sorry but I never trusted any of the newbies besides the axe twins who were killed last time. I don't trust nova anymore either. he's currently helping them but you can tell he will flip at any time. I don't blame his anger at yuki for killing his dadbut as many as she's killed being an assassin she has had bad stuff happen why she is the way she is. I LOOVE the end cliffy of brandon tied up and hanging, I'm soo AUing that lol. oh I do really like frost! I hope he sticks around and is trustworthy
ok ya'll let's load up again and join our GRIT boys!! YESSS!!

Night of the Reaper
If you’re in the market for a tidy thriller and don’t mind a moderate amount of gore, you could do lots worse than Brandon Christensen’s NIGHT OF THE REAPER (2025, Shudder, AMC+). It’s a neo-slasher with a retro feel, calling up memories of the original WHEN A STRANGER CALLS (1979) and set in the days before cell phones and digital media. It’s not terribly deep. There’s no attempt to get into the killer’s head. But it’s slickly made, features a nice twist partway through and has a capable leading lady with eyes that seem made for horror.
The film opens with the murder of a babysitter, a taut sequence in which she’s lured out of the house then comes back to find strange objects turning up until the masked killer strikes. Some time later, the town’s sheriff (Ryan Robbins) starts receiving VHS tapes of the killer’s handiwork. Meanwhile, Deena (Jessica Clement) comes home from college for Halloween weekend and agrees to step in for a sick friend who babysits Robbins’ son (the amazing, young Max Christensen, the director’s son). Before long, someone is playing the same tricks on her as the killer had played on the first sitter.
Christensen has been building a career directing Canadian horror films. He’s learned how to create a foreboding mood with shadowy cinematography (by Clayton Moore, and “hi-ho” to him). The killer maintains a videotaped record of their crimes, and Chistensen cuts effectively between the taped footage and live action. Writing with his brother Ryan, he does a good job of setting up info that will play a major role in the denouement without hammering those details home. And he’s helped by a strong cast, particularly Clement, who offers a tortured variation on the final girl trope. You can tell she’s got deeper layers — it’s all in her large, dark eyes — but the only indication of what might be bothering her is a withdrawn father who barely speaks to her.
There is a gaping plot hole at the end. If you’re totally caught up in the tension at the climax, you may not question it. If you’re a judgmental old fart like me, you will. And if you’re aware of Canadian actors, the film’s opening credits may cue you in to the killer’s identity. It’s also important to mention that the killer routinely lures their victims from safety by planting a dead dog just outside where they’re staying. Fortunately, they look like props, though the actors’ reactions render them more real.
