When he was a child, he had an abusive father, but no matter how much abuse Jackdaw took he always healed and couldn’t fuckin die. He was mutated. He can’t get sick, and when he gets hurt he heals very quickly no matter what the injury is. Well one day his father hurt his mother and so Jackdaw killed his father with an axe, and keeps that axe to this day.

His mom died later on after getting sick, and so Jackdaw raised himself from that point forward. He was recruited into the army and joined the UNSC. He was going to be recruited for Project Freelancer, but he was a little too wild and never obeyed orders. They didn’t originally want to make him a sim trooper, but he was so fucking mentally stupid that they figured it’d be a good idea. 

There was one problem though, he became DANGEROUSLY loyal to red team. To the point where if the reds wouldn’t let him kill the blues, he’d go on a rampage and kill everyone on both sides. Eventually they got sick of him killing their lab rats and stuck him in Blood Gulch. 

Once there, he attached to Sarge like a leech. He was different than the other commanding officers he’d had. When the other reds told Jackdaw that Sarge would be lonely without any blues to fight, that was essentially the only thing that stopped him from slaughtering everyone in the canyon. 

Once they found out that the whole red vs blue shit was all a hoax for Freelancer, Jackdaw gave up on Red Command and decided Sarge’s word was law. The only other person he listens to besides Sarge is Simmons (because he’s head over heels obsessed with him.) 

There’s more to him but this is just his background essentially.
