βThe cure for pain is in the pain." β¦And boy have I been in a lot of pain since last year. Despite this race being my 16th half-marathon, it was my first race since 2019 pre-pandemic. Originally I was supposed to run this race in 2020 with a significant other before the state went into lockdown. This race was challenging in all aspectsβ¦physically, mentally & emotionally. I even ran this race while bleeding out of my uterus. It was tough, but I am still pushing through and taking it day by day. Running long distances is mostly mental, and I really appreciate all the life long lessons it teaches you. It reminded me that setbacks are gonna happen, itβs important to know when to take breaks, it pushes you to get comfortable with being uncomfortable, and that the those who are successful are not the people who are constantly measuring themselves against other people. It reminded me that your competition isnβt other people β itβs yourself. Your ego, your procrastination, your self-talk. So cheers!β¦ cheers to running the marathon of life & to keep pushing forward. β€οΈβπ©Ήππ»ββοΈππ // #surviving #resilience #runliv #thecomeback #healing #run #stillness #livermore #kailaniruns #livermorevalleyhalf #eastbay #winecountry (at Livermore, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/Ca1LxzNr9QW/?utm_medium=tumblr
