Just setting up my desk in the new studio ( still awaiting an electrician for power....but hey...I can dream haha ) I hung some inspirational art above my desk, a Victor De La Fuente painting from Battle Picture Library in 1965, a tiny skull drawing by @gipigianni ( who's work I adore ) and a painting by Allesandro Biffignandi for War Picture Library. In a recent interview with the @nytimes , the amazing director @haifaa.almansour revealed that along with her husband @niemannbrad , we will hopefully begin work on a Documentary on artist Shawn Kerri later this year! Shawn was responsible for some of the most iconic art in Californian punk rock, as well as being a prolific comic book artist. She created some of the greatest cartoons ever, and we aim to tell her incredible story. I will hopefully be art directing! Shawn's art was a huge influence on me, both as a ypung punk kid and as a professionl artist. Accidentally saw this coolection scrolling through some 2000ad items on eBay. It's a short story written by Al Ewing for 2000ad Megazine's 'Black Museum' series. I didn't know how to use photoshop back then in 2006, so to create the 'tones' layer over the art I overlayed some tracing paper and using black ink and a shitty brush! My very patient and very kind partner helped me assemble the art digitally. ( I had only ever used a computer to use eBay at this point ironically) I was so dispondent I tgought I would never learn to use a computer. What a learning curve.
