Most of the time Y’shtola could tell what Ruby was thinking, she was easy to read and predict most of the time. Other times not so much, when she stares into nothing lost in her thoughts. Usually this meant that the Warrior of Light and Darkness was dwelling on a recent event, one that didn’t exactly go to plan.
This one was different, as fair as the scion was aware nothing disastrous had happened, but her aether clearly says something is up. The Sorceress however just watched Ruby, who hasn’t noticed her presence just yet. Oh how she misses her sight sometimes, being able to see aether has its perks, but it also has its downsides. Not being able to see body language for instance.
Ruby was the first to break the silence, not aware the Scion was with her:
“Why me?” She asks herself, lost in her own thoughts. “Why am I the Warrior of Light? Or whatever the title is now...”
Y’shtola is taken aback by this statement. She did not expect this, Ruby to be having doubts.
“I was just a random adventurer...” Ruby shakes her head and sighs. “I wanted to make a name for myself, earn some Gil, live comfortably. Now I’ve saved not only this realm, but a whole other shard. Hells, I didn’t even do that. I was just the muscle, the firepower. The others handled everything else...”
Ruby sighs, and after a brief silence Y’shtola replies:
“Maybe so, but we could not have done it without your help.” She softly states, making her presence known.
“S-Shtola... I-” Ruby stammers surprised.
“Quiet.” The Scion says softy, before walking over and sitting besides the Warrior. “While it is true that all you do is just defeat our adversaries, not only is that feat immensely incredible, it is often critical to our success.”
Shtola grabs Ruby’s hand and intertwines it with hers. “It is because of you we have made it as far as we have.” She gently smiles at Ruby. “The realm owes a great deal to you.”
“I-I know Shtola, but I... I didn’t want all this. I didn’t want the weight of the world on me, I didn’t want to be the one who has to kill gods. I just wanted to make enough money for myself.” Ruby sighs, leaning into Y’shtola. “One of the few good this to come out of all of this was meeting you.”
“I am glad you think so my crystal. I am also happy we met, you have changed my life for, what I consider, the better.”
Ruby makes a light chuckle, “I’m sorry... I shouldn’t be thinking this way..”
“Now, now, we all have our doubts. Just remember Ruby, I am here for you.” Shtola lightly smiles planting a kiss on the other miqo’tes head. “I am not only here to support you, I am also willing to help shoulder the burden. You do not have to do this alone.”
“Thank you” Ruby whispers back.
“Always, my crystal.”
