Had a great time with Team RWB Tulsa & Green Country Ruckers at Fleet Feet Tulsa - Broken Arrow at the Route 66 Marathon #RT66FIRSTMILE event. RWB State Coordinator Guada Moreno came up from College Station to thank Michael Cox for his year in service as the local RWB chapter's captain. Brenda Bonnie not only finally got patched 18 months later for finishing the 2019 Route 66 Half Marathon, but also won a free Fire Cracker 5k race entry from the Fleet Feet & Route 66 giveaway. All of us and Lonnie Mayberry completed the 1 mile training ruck/ walk, ate pizza, enjoyed beer, Italian ice, and freebies from various vendors, and had lots of fun conversation. Eagle Elizabeth even stopped by to say hi. Good times! Got to meet fellow Rt66 Ambassador Jason in person! And got to catch up with Kelly & Patrick. Registration is open for the FREE "Virtual First Mile" training event, sponsored by Fleet Feet Sports Tulsa. This officially kicks off the training season for the upcoming 2020 Williams Route 66 Marathon. Between July 6 – 11, you'll ruck, run, or walk your first official training miles of the season no matter where you live. And best of all, it’s free! 1 Mile and 5k (3.1 miles) options are available. Your FREE registration includes a printable bib, printable finisher’s certificate, and access to our official Route 66 Marathon playlist that will make you feel like you’re pounding the pavement in Tulsa along with the Route 66 Marathon training crew. Once you’ve completed your miles, share a photo using the hashtags #RT66FirstMile #RT66Run or #RT66Ruck (or both!) and tell your crew how your ruck, run or walk went. Personally, I'm registered to ruck this virtual event at the 5k (3.1 miles) level with a 20 pound steel plate in my GORUCK ruck sack.
