I miss AH so much. There's an ache under my ribs where there used to be a silly bubble of internet idiots.
I just. I dunno. I guess I just wanted to talk about it with someone who GETS it, even if it was just a quick "Hi, do you FEEL that? Yeah, me, too."
Friend, I am right there with you.
Rooster Teeth/ Achievement Hunter was such a gigantic part of my life and their videos/podcasts/ect were an emotional support crutch that got me thru some really rough times. It’s like an ache and I don’t care how parasocial it makes me sound. I miss them all very much and I miss the community as well. I’ve made the joke that my blog and rt tattoo outlived the company and while that could be considered a big yikes, I also have never once been able to let go of something I’ve loved so honestly that just makes sense for me lmao
I wish it didn’t all end like a slow death and I wish there wasn’t all the controversies and bad feelings the last few years but the parts that were good were fucking good and they were so ahead of the curve with the internet and gaming culture and building a community and comedy and dang it, it all shouldn’t get erased due to a handful of toxic people. What they accomplished was important - just look to all the people Ray streams with now that grew up on rtah content
Ray’s streaming content is so good, and he’s been a part of a lot of great collaborations with other streamers, especially the stuff with Chibi, Nagzz, and Matt Bragg.
The two (so far, fingers crossed we get another something sometime) streams that Ray did with a bunch of AH folks in REPO was stellar and absolutely worth a watch if you haven’t.
I’ve also gotten a lot of rtah nostalgia while watching some Dropout TV shows. I got to see some of them live last week in Indy and it reminded me of going to both Let’s Play Live Chicago and RTX 2015.
Viva La Rooster Teeth
Viva La Achievement Hunter
Viva La the Community that meant so much to me
