"Closing out a Dying Wish Pt2" (In forgotten grace we struggle to into our graves too tired to say goodbye.) In the low lands of Maricopa County in AZ you can find The Salt River Pima-Maricopa Native American Community. It's comprised of 2 tribes; the Pima, or "Akimel Au-Authm," (River People), & the Maricopa, or "Xalychidom Piipaash," (People who live toward the water). The reservation sits in a sadden & yet beautiful land of abandoned & burned down houses that decay along a striving community. When a family member dies in a house, it's abandoned & burned down with most of their material goods still inside. It's believed that when this is done, the spirit will be free to live on in the afterlife. These living quarters are littered with personal & intimate belongings that give you a small view on a family members past life. While on this shoot there was an uneasy & haunting feeling that came over me in every new place we visited.
