It was a silly game to be playing at a ball. Certainly unbecoming. But her curiosity had been peeked and she couldn't just let it go.

"Close your eyes and I'll show you." Patroclus said, putting the hand not behind his back on Pyrrhas shoulder.

"Close my eyes and you'll show me?" She asked with a laugh. But still, she covered both her eyes with her hands. It made her giddy. Wondering what he was doing.

"Ok. Open them." She uncovered her eyes. She grinned and clapped a hand to her breast. It was only one flower. A pink rose. Her mind immediately translated it to mean the start of a loving relationship.

"For me?" She reached out to take the flower gently. He let her take it with a nod.

One flower wasn't expensive. But it meant a lot. That he'd brought it to the ball. Just for her. She pressed her nose to the bloom and sniffed it happily. It smelt sweet.

"I'm sorry I can't get you more. But I think a bouquet might be a bit much for a dance." He chuckled and she shook her head a little sadly. Her mother made it very difficult to court her. No one seems to be good enough. And certainly not the man she had taken in love with.

"It's ok. I like it. I like pink."

"Pink is your color. You should wear it more." He smiled sweetly and reached out to take her hand. "At least it's pretty on your cheeks Miss Pelone."
