Below,  we have, top row: A very ominous white poodle; Sorcerous drug  entrepreneuse Chi Binh; The monstrous Russian cultist known only as  ‘Grandma and her colleagues, attended by adorable household pets; and  the burnt ‘Hello Kitty’ binder that started it all (She’s a cat! Like Bast! I finally get it!).

Bottom row: A very  upset black bear; Conradin’s cult of alligator-humanoids; Nyarlathotep,  in his guise as an overly-tactile motocross rider; the nameless predator, who hunts even the Gods themselves; The King in Yellow, with his personal phone app; and Claramonda, the friendly neighbour who may or  may not actually be a giant spider.

You enter the storage unit.  It is filled with odd shaped boxes covered in dust.  No one appears to have entered in years.  In the corner is a standing birdcage with a cloth covering it. There is a sound inside.

1) Examine cage 2) Examine boxes 3) Leave storage unit

You examine the cage and discover that inside is a live parrot.  There is no food or water.  No one has cared for this bird in some time.  It appears unperturbed by this and completely ordinary in every other respect.  It looks at you.

1) Open cage 2) Retreat 3) ?????????

“Did you hear about the new camp?”

“The one with those scumbags? As if anyone is interested in that.”

“Right? Who in the world would want to spend time with them...”

The villains transformed the civilians into monsters, which the superheroes quickly reverted. Years later, the government may revoke their citizenship, declaring them legally non-human. In order to protect themselves, they pick through a museum that is actually a secret vault for super power sources. After gaining superpowers, the civilians (now the Gate 9 crew) find themselves caught in adventure after adventure, from saving themselves to saving the world.
