I'm tearing code out of scripts you can't even imagine
#A lie: I've been playing with RPGMaker XP now that I've got Steam working again and auauhghhguhghahh#The coding beast in me awakens again it's so funnnnnnn#I really feel like all the Ghostkinz coding prepped me in a way that like - just playing in RPGMaker itself wouldn't have?#Like - the low barrier to entry to making a Ghost had me looking at code in a way I Got#I'm looking at the code in XP with squinted eyes even now#I would Not have Gotten what the hell was going on in there#But - because I Do (to a degree) - it's inspiring me Way More to play in the more user-friendly side of the code as well#I changed some of the Baby's First Game Description because I knew I could pluck the stuff I didn't want Out#Like - don't display that anymore :) It's a secret :) It's not important :)#You can't do that from Baby's First UI! You can change what Is there but you can't make it go away#I wanted it away. I made it go away. I hunted it down in the code and tore it out and the code still works#Yeah I broke it a couple times in the process but then I put it back and was more careful!#I love lightweight programs so much <3 <3 Not having to do a hard restart and just - put it back#Doesn't break anything for long! Just calling upon an asset that doesn't exist anymore#And then you make it exist again and it all goes back to normal! That's basically magic to me#And also the people who make XP Scripts are so cool - I have the Exact kind of map I was looking for by plug-and-play#There are still a lot of basic things I don't know where they're located - like player speed lol - but I can cheat them#It's really rewarding to think of a workaround and implement it and it Just Works#The idea that's in my head is getting increasingly doable the more I play in it - it's terribly exciting#RPGMaker XP#WPVG#Lol
