One thing about the plot of POY/TP that I really try my best to focus on while currently writing it, is a more realistic approach to Roy's addiction from both sides of the narrative. I know it may be hard to see currently with the present chapter count still being at 1, but having that dual POV of the recovery, relapse, and overall experience with addiction being from two people who have vastly different previous experiences (while still in a lot of ways similar) is very important to me both as a writer and a person who has, admittedly, dealt with addiction on both sides.

Something else that I think is noteworthy is the larger majority of the "flashback" chapters/scenes I've written out so far are Wally's. I have about three different chapters for him and two independent scenes, while Roy so far only has one chapter, not including his first (which takes place about 1½-2 months prior to Wally's), and one independent scene. Thinking about it, I guess it's because from Wally's side, he's slowly learning how to open up to someone that he instinctually closed himself off from due to his past experiences, so that creates a larger focus on his memories and why specifically he reacts to Roy in the ways he does. Roy's part, on the other hand, is more focused on the present because he's learning to prioritize his future, and that dwelling on all the bad things he did before is what may stop him from being better in that future.

And I'd like to say, while I did specify that Wally would be explicitly asshole-ish throughout the story, there will probably be points where both him and Roy are incredibly toxic. Maybe not to each other 100% of the time, but it is still present.

Bonus: I finally made up my mind and decided that I will have (adoptive) Native!Roy in the fic. He is Navajo (I specify this because DC sucks with his continuity) and will have several points in the story where this is an important factor to his character, because of the stereotypes and history surrounding alcoholism and drug abuse in modern Native American communities. Being extra sure to be as sensitive as I can regarding this, as I am not Native. Also, being a no-powers modern AU, I've decided to locate Tamaran as a country in Central Africa in the middle of South Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya, and Uganda because I decided to look for references of what I picture human Kori to look like and many of the ones I found I liked most were from those countries, and idk if it'll ever come up but I think it's neat. Though, you can feel free to imagine her however you like. Originally, it was meant to be a Mediterranean country but putting more thought into it changed my mind.

I have so much more but I am afraid if I share anything else I'll spoil something. But I promise I'm working as much as I can to get chapters out for you all eventually
