Notes & predictions regarding the latest Chaotix Casefiles episode
• I'm absolutely loving the dynamic between Rouge & Espio. Rouge is trying so hard to give him a hint, but Espio is so loyal to the Chaotix that he doesn't even realize that Rouge is basically asking him out. They are easily becoming one of my favorite sonic ships.
• Professor Victoria seems to have ulterior motives with the astroscopic lenses. She says the lenses would be safer with GUN than in a museum, but I disagree. Even with the unsual amount of museum thefts in Sonic's world, the lenses would be under better care of curator with the skills to preserve them than in a military base. That is unless the military base has hired a curator or someone with similar skills - *cough* Victoria *cough* - to take care of the lenses.
If Victoria really is the secret sister of Maria, I wonder if she's trying to take down GUN from the inside as revenge for Maria's death (and possible Gerald's as well). We know GUN made Gerald continue his work on Prison Island before his death, so they have tons of information on him and his work stored away. If he had any information on the lenses or the Gaians, Victoria would love to get her hands on it. I'm sure she was happy to be hired by GUN if it was the only easy way to access this information without suspicion.
• Commander Abraham Tower doesn't seem too fond of Professor Victoria. I think he probably suspects something of her, which is why I think Rouge is probably a double/secret agent for him right now. Rouge has no problem working for GUN, as she has worked for them in the past. She also has seen many of the files of Gerald and the Robotnik family (as seen in SA2). This makes her a great choice to secretly oversee Victoria and the lenses thefts if Tower suspects Victoria to be connected to the Robotniks.
• I love that GUN has a marching band. I need to see fanart of the uniforms.
• Poor Charmy. He's trying his best to find his place in the Chaotix. The kid deserves a break after this mystery is solved. It doesn't help that Vector and Espio were reenacting the furry divorce meme this episode.
• Episode 3 really had me thinking that Mr. Kitsch is the lense thief. He was conviently at the museum before the lense was stolen and just so happened to be gone when the theft occured, only to be back again once the thief was gone. If Victoria is after the lenses, I think Kitsch could still be thief in two different ways.
1. Mr. Kitsch is in kahoots with Professor Victoria. He is either working for her or with her. He could have the same goals as her or be doing it for money or for something else of value to him. Either way it would mean Victoria is working all sides of the theft.
2. Mr. Kitsch suspects Victoria of wanting the lenses. Word spreads fast among academics of the same subject. If he suspects she's going to use the lenses for ill-intent, he'll have to grab them first, Carmen Sandiego style.
Both of these theories assumes Victoria is after the lenses and that she isn't stealing them herself.
• So what side are the Chaotix on? The end of the last episode left us in kind of pickle. I think we're supposed to think that they're on Victoria's side still, seeing as that's who's paying them. However I think the Chaotix will veer to the side of solving the whole mystery, not just finding the info Victoria wants from them.
• From what I'm getting from the Chaotix Casefiles and other current Sonic media, the next big game will continue the focus on ancient beings and civilizations (like Frontiers did), expand the playable and interactable cast of Sonic and friends, and have an antagonist that is not Eggman (which is what I'm kinda hoping Victoria will be).
