watching a video of someone reading the rote for the first time and it covered this idea of the "correct reading order" which really boils down to people saying that you can start with liveship if you want to (which. no. it's publication order or die.) and the comments were discussing why there are these "different orders" and someone was like "it's if you don't like fitz" and just. imagine not liking fitzchivalry farseer. the most insane man who has ever lived.

i'm sure this has been spoken of ad nauseam and i won't be pointing out anything particularly new but it really is exhausting that rh's female characters just end up being baby breeding machines. finishing city of dragons, and thinking of what thymara is facing across the last two books, i THINK rh is attempting some sort of critique on women's place in these societies? (that she has created btw lol). and in many ways she is allowing these women to make choices, like thymara can choose between tats and whats his name... genuinely forgetting it but whatever they're both kinda barf options anyway. alise can choose to be with leftrin (also a barf option just to make my opinion SO plain on that) and maybe it would be different if she could write an interesting het romance in these books but at 3/4 rn, she literally can't. even with the m/f relationships that i am like, Alright about or relatively into, malta can choose reyn and althea can choose brashen. they have agency in those choices (i guess???) but i've already seen that the end of those choices just mean they give those men babies. so at this point that's just what i'm expecting to happen to thymara. and god knows leftrin won't shut the fuck up about knocking alise up so its just like. 🫥🫥🫥 and to be frank i AM a believer that motherhood can be a valid and meaningful choice for women who want that, but when it's the Only Option for the women in these stories, the attempted critique or commentary on it just falls so flat. can someone in this world invent birth control or god forbid a fucking condom like MAN

no one has asked and i don't really rate books anymore and my rain wild thoughts rn are complicated but to put it simply dragon keeper 👎 dragon haven 👍 city of dragons 🤷 which just leads into the fact that i am annoyed that these are 4 books i know she intended for it to only be 2 and then [gestures vaguely] but like. idk surely we could have edited some of this down. I Don't Know
