The beech forest of Otzarreta is on the Biscayan slope of the Gorbeia Natural Park, which also introduces into Álava. It is one of the most photographed enclaves in the Basque Country.

Made this in school as part of the machinerylessons. Is supposed to be a keyholder or something similar but just stands on a shelf. Made of pine (PNSY) and red beech (FASY) and oil was applied. The beak is made of nut (JGNG).

Beech (German Buche), ethymologically actually oak. Greek phegos (= oak) = tree with edible, oak-like fruits. „On their prehistoric migrations, the peoples met new species of trees, which they gave an old name when they could no longer find the earlier species.
