Be honest: is the reason you don't like Andy Burnham because he supports Everton? 🧐🤔👀
No. And tbh, he was so important to promoting the Hillsborough Law, I imagine all genuine LFC supporters would entirely forgive him supporting Everton. It's the fact he's just a new face slapped onto a package of the same old New New Labour shite that I can't stand.
To take only one issue: his apparent support for new drilling for gas and oil in British waters. He has said, “The question isn’t whether Britain will still be using oil and gas, the question is where does it come from.” So he's already signalled an intention to keep the UK relying on fossil fuels, rather than prioritising a swift and efficient transition to less ecologically disastrous sources of energy. Same old, same old.
If his Government does give new licences for drilling, including the Jackdaw gasfield in the North Sea and the Rosebank oilfield near Shetland, when the UK's just about to go into its fifth period of extreme heat* this summer and there have been an estimated 2,700 heat-related deaths in the UK so far this year... That would be unforgivable.
* 'Heatwaves' sounds too benign imho
