If your friends had bet on when Minjae would confess to you, they all would have lost.

No one expected for it to happen within a few weeks of your last hangout at the movies.

Everything happened so fast.

First, the mint haired decided to write you a song and, obviously, produce it himself.

After so many nights of frustration and self-doubt, he created a beautiful song that expressed how you made him feel and how incredible you were.

And then, when he felt that it was ready, he played it for you while you were eating takeout, just the two of you. He would have cooked, but it wasn’t his strong suit and he didn’t want to burn down the kitchen.

After listening to it and shedding a tear or two because of how moved you were, Minjae asked you to be his girlfriend to which you enthusiastically said yes.

And that was the start of something beautiful.

Fast forward to a few months later. Not much had changed, except that you discovered that the now pink haired was preeetty clingy and tended to sulk a lot when you were far from him.

Like that time when you were working late for the upcoming comeback of the boygroup you worked with.

You were, once again, late at the studio when your phone rang. It was a FaceTime call from Minjae.

“Hi, my love.” You greeted him.

“Hi, pretty girl.” He smiled as he rested in bed back at the apartment. “How is work going?”

“Pretty good, actually. I think I’ll be done in a couple of hours.”

“Hours? That’s a lot of time.” He pouted, making you laugh.

“I promise it’ll pass by fast, my sulky baby.”

The pink haired just smiled, blushing. At the beginning of your relationship, he used to cover his face whenever he got red, which happened a lot. But as time passed, he stopped caring that much, especially because he saw that you liked it and would always touch his cheeks.

“But I miss you.” He whined.

“But you saw me this morning and in the evening. We even ate together.” You chuckled.

“So? Can’t a guy miss his girlfriend?”

“He can, but not you. You literally see me 24/7.”

“Almost 24/7.” He remarked.

“Okay, almost.” You rubbed your eyes as tiredness started to creep in. “I’ll be home soon. Okay, love?”

He nodded. “Just don’t overwork yourself, pretty girl.”

“Promise.”

“Love you.” He smiled softly at you.

“Love you, too.”

You hung up and sighed, resuming your work.

You actually finished faster than anticipated, with sleepiness and the desire to be with your boyfriend contributing to it.

Your walk home was fast and enjoyable, not a single soul out there.

As you arrived at your apartment, you made sure to make as little noise as possible since you knew that Jaehyun was already asleep and hoped that Minjae was as well.

When you opened your bedroom door you could see a figure resting there. Smiling, you changed into your pyjamas quickly and joined the pink haired under the covers.

He stirred as soon as he felt the bed dip, turning onto his side to look at you with half-closed eyes.

“My pretty girl.” He smiled widely and took you into his arms.

“Hi, my love.” You kissed him near his lips.

“I’m glad you’re home.” He spoke softly as he settled his head on your chest.

“Me too.” You smiled with tenderness as you wrapped your arms around him and closed your eyes, falling asleep in no time.

Something that occurred quite often since you started dating was your friends finding you and Minjae napping together on the living room couch.

It could happen day or night; the time didn’t matter. Especially when you had a very rare day off that you both shared at the same time.

Jaehyun, Riku and Yujin walked into the apartment after a day of shopping. Which translated to Yujin going shopping and making two of her best friends hold her bags all day long. And inviting them to lunch after she was done, which was the only reason why they always agreed to do it. You can’t blame them for wanting free food.

The third roommate sighed. “I love them and all, but I haven’t been able to sit on the couch and just watch my show this week.”

The girl hit him on the chest. “Leave them alone, they’re cute.”

“Yeah. Just buy another couch, then.” Riku shrugged.

“Just bu-“ Jaehyun considered it for a moment. “You know what? Maybe that is the solution. I always thought the room was missing something, anyway.”

“There you go.”

“They always make me feel single.” Yujin pouted while sitting on the kitchen island. “Maybe I need a boyfriend.”

Riku was about to speak when Jaehyun looked at him with a side eye. “Don’t even think about it.”

“Why not?” The brown haired frowned.

“I don’t want to be the only single guy in the group.” He argued. “I hate third wheeling.”

Riku laughed. “We’ll get you a girlfriend next.”

Jaehyun rolled his eyes playfully. “Yeah, sure.”

And if you’re wondering: yes, Riku asked Yujin out, and she agreed.

And Jaehyun got a girlfriend, no thanks to Riku. How? Not even he knows.

But that’s a story for another time.

A few months flew by, and before you knew it, you had been living with the two guys for 6 months.

It was crazy when you really thought about it.

The three of you developed a deep bond that transformed into a close friendship.

You were definitely a little bit closer to Jaehyun since you saw him often, even though you worked at different companies.

But what you had with Minjae was a little… different. Something that Yujin would call “sexual tension”, a claim you would have loved to deny but definitely started feeling it a few months ago.

Anyway, Jaehyun’s schedule was more flexible than yours and Minjae’s; which allowed the two of you to bond quicker.

And Minjae was a workaholic perfectionist, may I add.

And while you both had the same role at the same company, you had a better work-life balance. This didn’t mean you didn’t work hard or less meticulously than him but you had learned to complete your tasks during office hours.

You rarely stayed late at your studio unless you were completely stuck and had no idea what direction to take for the project.

And today was, unfortunately, one of those days.

To say you were exhausted, was an understatement.

You felt like shit. You had been working on this new song for the boy group you worked with; their new comeback was right around the corner so the track had to be perfect and delivered in time.

You had tried everything but nothing was working, leaving you feeling frustrated and tired. To make matters worse, you had slept horribly the night before.

Your work station was a mess. Candy wrappers were everywhere, alongside coffee cups. You had lost count of how much caffeine you had ingested throughout the day.

As you rested your head on your arms, you heard a knock on your door. Confused, you glanced up and saw the time on your computer, 2:30 am. It was pretty late. You were certain everyone else had already gone home, everyone except you and Minjae.

Minjae? What was he doing here? He normally wrapped up around 5 am, if he ever remembered to sleep at all. He usually napped at his studio, as if he completely forgot he had a warm bed waiting for him back at the apartment.

“Come in.” You spoke, burying your face back in your arms.

“Hey, Y/n.” He greeted. “Rough day?”

“Hi, Min. Yeah.” You sighed, finally looking up at him. “What are you doing here? I thought you still had that huge project going on.”

He sat down on the coach across from your desk. “I actually finished early and was about to head home when I saw that your lights were still on.”

“You? Finishing at a decent hour? Are we in an alternative universe?” You joked.

“Yeah, yeah. Believe it or not, sometimes I can manage my time alright.” He rolled his eyes playfully. “It feels like we switched places. It’s once in a blue moon that you’re here past 10:30.”

“If it were up to me, I would be tucked in my comfortable bed reading a book right now. But my brain refuses to cooperate today.” You ran your fingers through your hair in frustration.

“Do you want some help?”

“No, it’s okay. I’m sure-“ Your sentence was cut off by a yawn.

Minjae raised his eyebrows. “Ugh, fine.”

You explained the general concept of the album, the vibe, everything that you knew about it.

Your roommate listened attentively and nodded, you could practically see the gears turning on his head.

“Okay… so what if we try this?”

“Oh, I really like that. Maybe we could add this as well.”

Slowly, your frustrations started to disappear, allowing you to think clearly.

As you worked side by side, you couldn’t help but steal glances at him. You couldn’t deny that Minjae was incredibly handsome and genuinely kind as well.

Not to mention, he looked extremely attractive when he was in his element.

God, if Yujin could hear you now she would never let you live it down.

“Y/n?”

“Hmm?” You snapped out of it, praying he hadn’t caught you daydreaming about him.

“Alright, I think that’s it for tonight.” Minjae began gathering his things and turning off your monitors.

“Nooo, we can keep going.” You yawned again.

“Sure.” He laughed. “Let’s go home. We’ll finish it tomorrow.”

“Okaaay.” You stood up from your chair. “Minjae?”

“Yeah?”

“Thank you.”

“Anytime, Y/nnie.” He smiled at you softly.

The night ended up with the two of you walking back home. Standing outside your bedroom door, you kissed his cheek quickly and shyly and immediately retreated into your room. Leaving the mint haired guy standing still, touching his cheek. He smiled, his face turning red as a tomato.

Yeah, he definitely liked you. That made him confirm it.

Days passed after that night, and though neither of you brought it up, you noticed a change in Minjae’s actions.

He started leaving a fresh cup of coffee on the counter for you every single morning so you could drink it before heading to work. He always made sure you ate, walked closer to you, insisted on carry your stuff, and countless other endearing actions.

It was not only notable for you but for your friends and other roommate too.

Like when Riku stayed the night. He walked into the kitchen in the morning and found your cup on the counter.

He was about to grab it when Jaehyun spoke without looking up from his phone. “I wouldn’t do that if I were you.”

“Why?” He was genuinely confused.

“Cause that’s Y/n’s cup.”

“And?”

“Minjae made it for her.” He explained.

“What? Since when does he do that?”

“A few weeks ago, I think.”

“He’s never prepared me coffee and we’ve been friends for years.” Riku pouted, sitting next to Jaehyun.

“Because you’re not Y/n.” The mint haired emerged from his room.

“What is that supposed to mean?” Their best friend whined.

“It means he doesn’t like you, bro.” Jaehyun laughed.

Minjae didn’t bother to confirm nor deny anything, but it was quite obvious that he was right.

“Not fair.” Riku muttered, crossing his arms.

Yujin also noticed that something was going on after that time your whole friend group went out to see a movie together.

First of all, he refused to let you pay for your own ticket or your snacks and he knew exactly the ones that you liked.

Then, he sat on your other side at the theater, his arm resting preeettty close to yours on the shared armrest.

And finally, on the walk back to your apartment, he gave you his jacket immediately after you complained about how chilly it was, claiming he “wasn’t cold” even though it was freezing out.

After seeing that Yujin turned to look at the other two guys, who had a similar knowing expression.

Their friend was completely down bad for you, no doubt about it. Even if he tried to act “nonchalant” it was pretty obvious.

And she was sure you felt the same way, considering you talked about him A LOT. Consciously or unconsciously, his name always slipped into the conversation; it was annoyingly cute. She could tell you enjoyed his presence and his attentiveness towards you.

She wondered how long it would take for either of you to confess.

When you heard from your friend, Yujin, that her friend’s friend needed a roommate, you were ecstatic.

You were in need of an apartment before the end of the month.

After frantically searching for weeks and realizing that you couldn’t afford to live on your own since, well, Seoul is pretty expensive and you were about to start your first job ever, the best option was to rent with a roommate.

Days before moving in, you were told that Junmin’s friend was a guy. And not only that, aside from him, another guy lived there as well. You would have preferred to room with girls but you couldn’t allow yourself to be picky right now.

“Aaand, that’s the last one.” You exhaled after placing the box that you were previously holding on the floor.

“Thank god.” Your best friend dramatically let herself fall onto the ground. “My arms are gonna fall off.” She whined.

You rolled your eyes playfully. “Don’t be dramatic, there weren’t that many boxes.”

“Still.” Yujin pointed at you.

“Here.” You passed her a bottle of water.

She grabbed it and sat down. “Thanks.”

“So, are you excited to live with not only one, but two boys?” Yujin moved her eyebrows up and down.

“Honestly, no.” You laughed. “I’ve never lived with one before, let alone two. And from what I’ve heard, they tend to be messy.”

“True.” She nodded. “Most of the guys I know are, minus Junmin. He’s kind of a neat freak.”

“Maybe I should live with him instead.” You joked. “Have you met his friends?”

“Minjae and Jaehyun.” Oh, so those were their names. With the move and all, you had forgotten to ask for them. “And a few times, both of them are chill.”

“Good to know.” You sipped from your own bottle of water. “Come on, let’s move these to my room before my roommates arrive and see a mess.”

“Ugh, fine.” Yujin pouted and got up, grabbing the nearest boxes.

After a few hours everything was cleaned and organized in your new room. It took a lot of energy and procrastination but with the girl’s help things got done faster.

“You owe me breakfast tomorrow.” She said with closed eyes as you were laying side to side on your bed, her arm covering them.

You laughed. “Okay, we’ll go to your favorite café.”

A few days passed until you were able to meet your roommates properly since your schedules didn’t seem to match.

From what you’ve heard, Minjae was a producer at KQ Entertainment, the same company you were about to start working in, and Jaehyun was a choreographer on a different one.

The day that you three finally met was a Friday night. You were coming back from a girls’ night with your girlfriends, Yujin by your side since she was going to sleep over.

You opened the front door and took your shoes off. Then you saw the two guys plus their friend sitting on the couch in front of the tv; they all turned to look at you after you entered the apartment properly.

“Oh, you must be our new roommate, Y/n.” The guy with shaggy brown hair and glasses spoke, pretty enthusiastically.

“Yeah, hi.” You responded a little shyly.

“I’m Jaehyun, this is Minjae and our friend, Riku.”

“Nice to meet you all.”

“Hey, guys.” The other girl greeted. Both of your roommates greeted her back.

“You’re Junmin’s friend, right?” Riku asked.

“Yep, we’re childhood best friends.” Yujin nodded with a smile.

“Cool.”

“Oh, we’re watching Bloodhounds if you guys want to join in.” Jaehyun spoke as he sat back down in his place.

You looked at Yujin and she nodded. “Yeah, sure. We’re just going to put our things in my room first.”

“‘Kay.”

You walked to your room and closed the door behind you.

“They seem nice.” You spoke. “A little shy, which is totally understandable.”

“Yeah, you apparently have that in common.” She laughed.

“I gotta say, I love Jaehyun’s energy. It reminds me of a puppy.” You smiled.

“He so is. I think he’s an ENFP.”

“Makes sense.”

“Did you see how Minjae was looking at you?” You tilted your head. “Like he was intrigued by you.”

Your cheeks turned red. “Shut up, he was not!”

“He was totally checking you out!”

“You were just seeing things.”

“Pleaseee, you know I have a sixth sense for these kind of things and have two working eyes as well.”

You laughed and threw a pillow at her.

“Your sixth sense is bull.”

She gasped. “How dare you insult me like that? I give it a few months until you realize that I am right.”

You rolled your eyes playfully and crossed your arms over your chest.

“Yeah, right. Come on, let’s go back out there before someone comes get us.”

That night ended up being pretty fun; you bonded easily with them. You were excited to see where these friendships would head.
