I know there are millions of rings in pawnshop showcases; all shining back at potential buyers, wishing that they will be the ring of choice and will find a new home on the other side of the glass. I take a swill of my wine and wash my dry mouth that hasn’t laughed for a long while. It’s a sad thought, but every pawnshop has rings from a brokenhearted woman, and those rings are ready for another woman’s finger. In time, a layaway plan of ninety days same as cash, some other accepting woman will smile, and her heart will flutter with joy and hope when she adorns the unknown memoir of agony.
