I can't believe they just gave Jay a magical haircut 😭😭 this had so much potential, especially with how much meaning there can be behind this sort of change. People say that hair holds memories, and cutting it off often symbolizes changes in more than one's appearance, but also in their worldview, their approach and everything, like they're becoming a new person, or they're getting a fresh/new start.
In Jay's case it could symbolize going back to who he once was, leaving behind his darker area. Not only does the magical change not make sense, because its one thing not to show an event (in this case Jay cutting his hair off) and another to do whatever this was, but they also missed the opportunity to give us another heart touching scene that would actually show him cutting it off.
I like to think he would be a bit hesitant, because he might have grown attached to out, and the time he had spent away from the others was still a big part of his journey. But he'd be relieved once he'd cut it off, like seeing that he's still the same person he once was, and that what happened could never change that.
I know it's technically still a kid's show and maybe the writers thought no one would care, but I also know that there are MANY people who are upset about it just as much as I am🥹 kid's show or not, these things are still significant.

Rogue jay where he doesn't fully remember how human anatomy works. pre merge jay knew he was trans but rogue jay doesn't. Rogue jay is all like, wow, I'm so cool with these scars on my chest. I must've gotten into some crazy battle or something before I lost my memories. Rogue jay forgets hes transmasc and considers himself transfem/neutral with his gender unlabeled Until He Finds Out (and when he does get his memories back hes SO joyous because he passed so well he himself thoufht he was amab.)
he would also find in this proof that if he were amab he would still be some form of transgender just, less leaning in any direction of any sort.
