Happy birthday to Rodney Linderman aka Rodney Anonymous, the one and only frontman for The Dead Milkmen.

The lady and I were talking over the weekend about an article that said you spend the rest of your life comparing music to that which you enjoyed as a young person. This makes sense. Big Lizard In My Backyard was my first introduction to the Milkmen at a time when I was moving away from Motley Crue and towards punk rock. Every time I hear this album, I remember playing a dubbed copy in the Oldsmobile while my father drove and my grandparents sat silently in the backseat.

Since Grandpa was hard of hearing and Grandma was super Catholic, one probably took it better than the other.

I still love everything this band has ever done. I just realized I have anecdotes for way too many Milkmen songs, so I'll save them for other entries. Enjoy "Violent School." If you don't enjoy it, compare it to whatever was just on the radio. You'll be back.

Thanks for making music that makes me rotate through giggling, nodding appropriately, or dancing like I'm either on all the medication or none of the necessary.
