In making my work that has press mold additions I find I was having lots of left overs from cutting and shaping. I had been making a few yunomis with them. I was thinking how could I make pieces that were more uniform and it hit me like a ton of bricks. I had a slip mold for making planters, just one of those things you end up with but never used. So I strapped it together and started pressing in the bits and pieces, cut the rim even and smoothed it and whamo, a simple rocks glass. It pleases me with its layers of texture. I had never been one for making pieces in a mold like this, taught it to my high school students but never liked what I made from them. Now there is a guy @markarnold_ceramics who does amazing work with this technique and owning one of his cups had some influence that is for sure. So here is to minimizing waste and making a new style with my same old nasty stank. #pressmold #ceramic #ceramics #rocksglass #yunomi #texture #clay #hadtimetothink #pottery #handmodel #stankpottery #art (at Gulfport, Mississippi) https://www.instagram.com/p/B-e41N_DrQr/?igshid=g1okysrmr04v
