Thank you for my spot on the tour and for the copies of the books in exchange for my honest review. 𝗠𝗬 𝗥𝗘𝗩𝗜𝗘𝗪 What an introduction to Lorraine Mace and to DI Paolo Sterling! I wasn’t familiar with the author of this book which was previously published as Retriever of Souls (if you have read that...). It was such a good read. The story was interesting and compelling, while the author threw around so many twists and false turns that my GPS is seeking therapy. I suspected everyone except Paolo at various stages during this story. The pace was fast and almost frenetic towards the final confrontation. Okay, so the ’baddie’ stretched my suspension of disbelief slightly, but there actually are people out there like that. I liked the characters. Paolo was really well developed and credible. He had real life flaws to which I think many can relate. But he is also a good copper; determined and unwilling to accept failure, while expecting professionalism from his team at all times. Dave. Oh Dave. He came across as a bit of a womaniser, which made him instantly unlikeable, but then clawed back some respect as the story progressed. I have high hopes for his future with Paolo. Overall, there couldn’t have been a better start to this series, which I wholeheartedly recommend to readers of police procedurals and crime thrillers. I gave Say Your Prayers, by Lorraine Mace, five stars and am already well into reading book two Rock-A-Bye Baby. I have attached information on the other four DI Sterling books.
