2017 is over. Let’s talk about that.
2017 was a pretty wild year for me. A lot happened, a lot changed, I experienced a lot of things I’d pretty much only dreamt about. There were definite ups and downs but there were certainly more ups than anything else, so let’s review shall we?
My mum, sister, and I moved into an amazing new house that we basically got to design to match our tastes. We were on a tv show about winning the lottery and buying the house. We had a lot of firsts in this house, and it's overall the first time that we ever felt anything was truly ours.
I saw Panic! at the Disco live in concert from the 4th row. I waved at Zack Cloud Hall and saw Sarah Urie and danced so hard I jumped into people and had the closest thing to a religious experience I’ve ever had. I laughed and cried and screamed my head off because finally after 12 years of loving a collection of musicians I was seeing some of them perform live. I was covered in glitter and sweat and it was all amazing. I lost my voice for 3 weeks after the show and every time I tried to talk about it I would get so excited that I would squeak.
I went to New York City for 5 days in July where I walked a lot, sweat a lot, and experienced a city that has both fascinated and terrified me for years. I saw one of my best friends perform in Groundhog Day (her broadway debut) and it was also the first broadway show I’d ever seen. I watched Brendon Urie and the cast of Kinky Boots perform. I met Zack Cloud Hall and got a photo and told him how much I appreciate him. I got to experience a Broadway musical from backstage while on head set with the stage manager, and as an aspiring stage manager it was the chance of a lifetime. I got to catch up with old friends and new and live in an unknown place for a week.
I got to see Fall Out Boy perform in Boston and while it wasn't as much as a life changing experience as PATD, it was still amazing. Andy Hurley got really close to me and I got to see him drum for real in person and it was incredible.
I drove to Brooklyn to see Dallon and Ryan perform in their first IDKHBTFM show on the east coast. I spent my day getting a tattoo and seeing one of my favorite artists and hanging out with my best friend. We met a bunch of goofballs in line with us and we enjoyed our short time in Brooklyn. Ever been to Brooklyn? No? You should go, everyone should visit there because I want to move there after visiting. I recognized places I'd visited there before, and out of all the places I've been in my life, that's the place that I have felt most drawn to.
My best friend from high school ( @slashcapades ) moved back to Massachusetts and we are closer than ever. We smoke a lot of weed and talk a lot about the past and remember really fun times in our lives and we listen to music and go on cute dates together and it super cute and I'm so so glad to have someone back in my life. I mean for crying out loud we've been friends for over 10 years.
I rekindled my relationship with another best friend of mine after we stopped talking for a while during college. He lives 3,000 miles away and we FaceTime almost weekly and talk a lot more it's really nice to know that even after like 11 years of being friends we can still enjoy one another company and really, not all that much as changed.
I've cultivated a little community of people online that share similar interests as me. I'm excited when something goes right in their lives and I'm sad to hear when they're feeling down and if I'm able to help them in whatever way they need I try to. I've met a few tumblr folks in real life and I'm excited to see what the new year and the upcoming excitement from Panic has to bring to our little fandom. So thanks to those that made this year pretty great overall. Thanks to everyone that shared the love of PATD, FOB, and IDK with me. Thanks for giving me that chance to live my mid teenage years out now that I'm 26 and am able to enjoy all the things I wanted to do then. Here’s looking at you @racheloddment @officialvicesandvirtues @throamspallon @robotryanross
A special thanks to my best friend, co-pilot, ultimate trash queen @broken-christmas-lights Thanks for being there for me through all my ups and downs, through all the amazing and the not so great. Thanks for allowing me to do everything I wanted to do this year that I would have just passed by. Here’s to all the crazy adventures we went on this year and all the equally nutty ones that are awaiting us this year. You're pretty great brosephine.
