TLDR: Jason Todd was never the angry or vengeful Robin, he was the Emotional and Empathetic Robin
In my opinion Jason Todd was always the most empathetic robin, and was also constantly trying to fill the shoes left by Dick to pushing to prove himself. And One of the main sources of his anger towards Bruce, post resurrection, was that Bruce didn't punish joker anymore than normal (just throwing him in Arkham), but what Jason never knew was that superman had to physically stop Bruce from killing Joker multiple times for killing jason, he also doesn't know that after he died Bruce would frequently hallucinate Jason (Im not actually sure about the hallucinations, but I feel like I read that somewhere)

「 we'll all be laughing with you when you die. 」
something terrible happens to you
and you come back
and everything is the same (except you) your family is whole happy not ok with what happened to you but they've grieved and moved forward, there is still a batman and robin, nightwing still has a little brother, the joker still breaks out and hurts people and gets put away again, gotham is as bad off and as well off as it ever was
you can't move forward
you are still stuck because something terrible has happened to you
and this is so unfair of you, they are not responsible for this terrible thing but you make them suffer for it, rehash it, listen to your rants about it, bear your temper tantrums and it is so stressful for them, you have come back wrong, you and they both wonder if everyone wouldn't have been better off if you hadn't come back at all
but something terrible has happened to you and you are different than you were because of it and angry and your anger is destructive, it hurts you, it hurts others, a lot of them deserve it (including yourself maybe) some of them don't and your anger is not forgiveable, your anger forever changes how you are viewed and how your family interacts with you, this is understandable (is it?)
something terrible happens to you
but the terrible thing that happened to you was a terrible thing that happened to everyone, they were the ones who lost you and had to grieve and it was your fault because you weren't more careful, less reckless, more obedient, less you (you were a child, you were betrayed, a grown man attacked you) you have changed your father forever with this terrible thing that happened to you and so it is also your fault when you ask him to put you above his morals (how dare you) and he chooses his morals (your murderer's safety) over your need to see he cares about you
something terrible happens to you
and everything changes (except you), nothing is as it was, you do not have the same life, the same identity, the same bonds, the people in your life no longer see you as a child (you are no longer a child but you don't remember growing up) you're the enemy, the cautionary tale, the crash out, batman's failure, the villain with delusions of righteousness, the brother with delusions of deserving affection after every terrible unforgivable thing you have done while angry, you're just another bit of dirt, a junkie or a psycho or just another rogue, you are a problem
you were robin
and something terrible happened to you
from your perspective, it never stops happening
yes Jason has done so many murders but have you ever considered that he's actually super cool and reads in his free time and loves his dad so much that it's driving him insane AND has done so many murders?
