Robert Wilson’s “My Coney Island Baby” at Coney Island-Stillwell Ave (F/D/N/Q) was created in 2004, before emojis became second nature, but the imagery lends itself perfectly to today’s #WorldEmojiDay and #NationalHotDogDay celebrations. 🌭🏇🌐

What better place to celebrate #NationalHotDogDay than at the Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue station with artist Robert Wilson's "My Coney Island Baby" (2004). According to The National Hot Dog and Sausage Council, Charles Feltman first opened a hot dog stand on Coney Island in 1871 and sold 3,684 sausages that year. In 1916, one of Feltman's employees, Nathan Handwerker, opened a small hot-dog stand at Surf and Stillwell with his wife, Ida. With the subway's extension to Coney Island in 1920, thousands of New Yorker's began flocking to Nathan's.
