Comic Book Saturday
Batpig was bitten by a radioactive bat (and his best friend) and gained powers. Gary (aka Batpig) decides that he has to use his powers for good. Except, it’s not quite that easy. He has to sort out a costume, has to get himself a zinger, oh, and learn how to properly defeat the villains too.
This was such a hilarious book. I loved the character of Gary, but, also, the secondary characters of Carl the fish and Brook the bat were awesome too. It was such a fun fun read.

Two things I love right now:
1. The sun sneaking between the leaves of the tree outside my living room window
2. This book

If you love getting lost in a middle grade series, then you’re in luck! Today, we’re so excited to bring you the eleventh book in @ursula-vernon‘s Dragonbreath series and the first book in the Life of Zarf series (now available in paperback!).
Dragonbreath #11: The Frozen Menace by Ursula Vernon
In The Frozen Menace, Danny Dragonbreath has a big problem: His fire has gone out! And that’s super-dangerous for a fire-breathing dragon like Danny. Danny and friends head on a perilous journey to find a way to reignite his fire. Just look out for the killer ice worms! Told in a mix of comic panels and text, this hilarious middle-grade series is perfect for fans of Diary of a Wimpy Kid. Ages 8-12.
Life of Zarf #1: The Trouble with Weasels by Rob Harrell
It’s not easy being Zarf. As a troll, he’s stuck at the bottom of the middle school hierarchy, way below the prince and knights (populars), ogres and giants (jocks), and even the lowly minstrels (band geeks). But it gets worse. When the king disappears and Zarf’s archenemy, the prince, ascends the throne, he makes Zarf’s life even more miserable. And so it is that Zarf and his two best friends set out to find the missing king as well as their way to middle school heroism. (Okay, the heroism part might be wishful thinking.) The Trouble With Weasels is now available in paperback, but don’t stop there: The sequel, The Troll Who Cried Wolf, is on bookshelves now! Ages 8-12.

Visiting Little Shop of StoriesÂ
Last week, on Wednesday, I got to go to Decatur, Ga to the Little Shop of Stories. Ursula Vernon, M.A. Larson, and Rob Harrell were there for the Once Upon a Chapter Tour. I did not end up taking any photos of the authors, because that would have been logical. But I did get lots of photos of the bookstore! The store itself is very cool. It’s set right in the Decatur Square area, which has coffee…
