OK! Finding a starting place to introduce Redline has been a little messy but here's some extra things I didn't mention on the refs and Photo Day. Warning: this is nerdy.
Northern wood turtles will stomp to simulate rain so they can bring worms to the surface to eat them. Leo stomps when he's excited. They've been described as very "dog-like" and super friendly, which is why we thought it'd be perfect for the big bro. When I was looking at their shells, I loved how they looked like a pile of leaves. We leaned into that when we designed him.
He's a terrapin! They have glands that secrete salt from their blood, (it makes them look like they are crying). They're also very timid and warm up over time. Donnie will pass his tears off as that but he does get anxious a lot.
Tiny. Stinky. We also borrowed some patterns from albino painted turtles to make him even more pink. Mud turtles will bite you if you try to pick them up. They are poor swimmers and just walk on the bottom of streams.
We really loved the plastron of this turtle. They will love you the more you feed them and that's usually true for Mikey. We didn't carry the stripes to his legs because we really liked that he looks like he's "crying light". He has the longest tail and nails. Unlike his brothers; he has to stay outside while they cover up and go into human establishments. It doesn't seem to bother him though.
Splin based their ages on the order they came to the college she worked at.
