after months and months of his tiktok followers begging him to make a youtube channel with longer covers, or vlogs of his busy life, he’d finally given in, at least a little bit. he doesn’t intend to upload often, or worry too much about it, but one vlog with a full length cover in there won’t hurt, right? he films on his phone since he hasn’t got a fancy camera, and his dad bought him a good phone with lots of storage that would last him a long time after his old one had fallen apart (literally, it practically disintegrated in his hands one day).
it begins with him just filming his morning routine really quickly - talking to his phone while brushing his teeth as if he were telling his friend his plans for the day. it’s a sunday, the day he usually manages to stop by the dance studio at uni that’s open access to anyone when it’s not being used for classes. however, he does still have work, which he tells his vlog as he washes his face and brushes his hair. he dresses in his starbucks uniform and readies his bag with his comfier clothes for dancing in, since he doesn’t plan on wasting time coming home to get changed after his shift.
he obviously doesn’t film while he works, though he films himself right after his shift, looking just slightly dishevelled - it’s always the busiest shift, the morning one, where half asleep businessmen and students come in needing their morning caffeine fix. “i just finished work and it’s now...” he pauses to check the time on his phone screen. “9:20am! so, i’m going to stop by the park on my way to the studio so i can sit down and eat my breakfast.” then he simply films his walk to the park, filming the sky and some birds eating some crumbs off the ground.
once he’s eaten his slightly crushed toasted sandwich from starbucks and finished his coffee he heads off again in the direction of the university building. he’s already picked out the song and has learnt most of it, though he still has to tidy it up and learn the last few difficult bits. but, considering he has the whole day to work on it he’s pretty sure he can film a nice cover, both for the vlog and a shorter one for tiktok by the end of the day.
it’s a long process, going through the choreo over and over and filming himself to watch it back and pinpoint mistakes he’s made, but after a quick lunch from the nearby convenience store, and a snack later in the day, eric’s pretty sure he’s got the cover perfected. it doesn’t take him long to film himself doing the cover for his vlog, since he’s not all that fussed about nice framing or his face being super visible like he is with his tiktoks. so, when it comes to filming the chorus part for his tiktok he has to figure a better place to put up his phone.
eventually, after some piling up of random objects precariously against the mirror he manages to get his phone at a good height to film his tiktok. it takes a few tries but eventually it looks good and he declares himself done for the day. wandering home he decides to treat himself to a second coffee, something he never does, but, he’d had a long day, and he craves something milky and sweet with just a little bit of a caffeine kick. so, he heads into a starbucks (since he gets a good employee discount) and gets himself a mocha with extra foam. then, heads on home.
as the days comes to an end he uploads his vlog to youtube, his cover to tiktok, and waits to see how both are received. as he lays there in bed, watching game playthroughs on his laptop, he thinks about how he could get used to filming the things he does in a day and letting people watch his everyday life, it had been kind of fun. maybe he’d do it again sometime...

FREE TIME, ruel ( young k version )
☪ #rkvlog performance by kang younghyun
it’s not like younghyun to be out of action musically for so long. he hasn’t performed live since his sting at the winter singer contest. no gigs or covers. nothing. he swears his guitar is collecting dust in the corner of his bedroom. it probably doesn’t help that his band is on hiatus, although he has a feeling that it’s him that’s on the hiatus. they seem to be going on without him. whatever. and when he’s not hustling at his grandparent’s chicken place or being harassed by his parents to join them for some fancy ass dinner, he’s at home; staring at the ceiling and thinking of her. oh how rich, complex and joyous his life has become. younghyun isn’t complacent, he’s still happy.
he’s tucked away in his apartment rather early for a friday night. disheveled hair, probably due for a shower and a shave. he looks like he hasn’t slept in days and the coffee mugs piling up at his bedside are evidence. younghyun fiddles with the lighting and sound of a video he recorded a few days ago, a cover. the untouched guitar in the corner of his room now lies on his bed and he’s reminded of how calloused his fingertips really are. his finishes the video and uploads it to a youtube channel that seems to be abandonned a long, long time ago with the caption:
hi guys, this is younghyun. this is a cover i did a few days ago. hope you enjoy.
as the video begins, younghyun is seen in frame with a guitar in hand. he doesn’t bother doing an introduction and his hands move carefully as he begins to play. it’s as if he never stopped, playing the guitar is the one thing younghyun could do and was good at. while kids could read and write and do complicated sums, younghyun could play a guitar and taught himself music.
my eyes are shut, sleep too much. probably should get up, but what’s the rush? brush my teeth, but not my hair. used to for you, but now, i don’t care. watching the clock from the sofa, i just wish you could come over.
his accent is noticeable but it’s not a hindrance to the song. younghyun’s voice is soft, velvety. he keeps his focus on his guitar and his fingers as they move between the frets, ensuring they meet the chords they’re supposed to. despite attempting to make this look so effortless, he had gone and rehearsed for a good while. and even then, it wasn’t perfect.
all my friends said don’t worry, i promise you’ll be fine. but now i’m alone and i’m lost in my phone with this free time. i used to spend it with you, all the stupid shit we used to do, now that you’re tied up, i’m tired of all of this free time.
i could make some toast, i could watch a show. i could go for a walk, but i probably won’t. i could do anything i put my mind to if i tried to but i’m ...
just watching the clock from the sofa, oh, i just wish you would come over.
all my friends said don’t worry, i promise you’ll be fine. but now i’m alone and i’m lost in my phone with this free time. i used to spend it with you, all the stupid shit we used to do, now that you’re tied up, i’m tired of all of this free time.
freedom, thought it was all that i needed, said i’d be cool with you leaving, baby i was wrong. crazy since you’re gone.
the tone of the song shifts, becoming a little more emotional and intense. but it softens once the bridge concludes, moving into the final chorus. his voice returns to it’s soft, velvety state and with the song finishing, younghyun wears a smile. there’s something about returning to his roots that is comforting amidst the crazed lifestyle he lives. sometimes, he wishes for easier times.
all my friends said don’t worry, i promise you’ll be fine. but now i’m alone and i’m lost in my phone with this free time. i used to spend it with you, all the stupid shit we used to do, now that you’re tied up, i’m tired of all of this free time.
there’s a break in the recording before younghyun appears again, guitar absent this time. sitting a little closer to the camera, younghyun bows as much as he can whilst sitting. “hello, this is kang younghyun.” he says, introducing himself. he purses his lips. “i’m sorry that i haven’t posted a video in a really, really long time.” he apologies upfront, blunt but seemingly sincere. “a lot of things have been going on in my life, but i had some free time the other day.” younghyun smiles, mentioning the title of the song. “so i thought, why not record and post it.” he runs a hand through his hair before sighing, hands falling back into his lap. “thank you for supporting me all of these years. your encouragement is always appreciated.” he bows his head once again before looking back at the camera. “i’ll work hard to give back to you. i promise.”

Even if I pretend to be the hero of a tragedy,
it’s still nothing but a performance
It felt like it had been ages since he last posted, and when Youngjae had checked the date for his last upload, he had to come to the realisation that it had indeed been ages. Almost a year since his last video was uploaded, and yet he was surprised at the appearance rate of people for his offline performance. Surely he couldn’t say that many people had appeared from the get go, but the fact that some had been there was enough to amaze him and, god forbid, warm his heart if only a little. No need to exaggerate.
Either way he felt as though it was time to do a favour to his fans back in Japan, and now that he was feeling better, what better opportunity than uploading a new video? He missed singing so much. Missed using his voice and have other people be amazed at him. It was also much easier to record now that he was out of school and now that his room mate was a trainee so the house was empty most of the day.
No one to interrupt him. No one to make snide remarks at him for being weird.
Not that the guy had done so but you never knew what went on behind your back. For all Youngjae knew the other had passed their little incident on to everyone he knew.
No, there was no time to wonder about such things. He had already finished the art for the video and received the finished file from his editor, so all he needed to do now was record the singing and put the sound and the video together. It was hard in the beginning and he had to look at lots of tutorials, but by now Youngjae did it as though it was second nature. Sitting down in front of the microphone he let the music play through one ear, the other free to monitor his own voice.
At last tomorrow is the “world’s last” birthday
At that fact told out of the blue
People panicked and danced sadly
Unable to do anything, I simply prayed
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
Friday, Weekday, just like always
Breathing, in and out, crying, laughing
Complaining, chatting, saying “I wanna die already”
Talking, telling, disagreeing, going places
Living, needing, even if someone left this world
It’d always be an unending game, or so I thought
A rather sad song it was, hidden behind an upbeat tune, but such was the case he found with most vocaloid songs. Perhaps that was why he liked them so much -- they were easier to relate to than bubblegum pop songs about falling in love and living a perfect life. He’d take a song about the world’s destruction and falling apart any day. There was a certain beauty in destruction, desolation and cynicism.
The evening sky’s blurry stars are unbelievably beautiful
The big shots have already given up and exposed their true nature
The plastered on lies are laid bare, and upon us masses
Fell the rain wetting our cheeks
World peace or collapse, either is fine
On the final night “lies” would vanish from this beautiful world
But the desired next morning instead comes calmly
And the people dropped their shoulders, laughing
the boy points his camera at the mirror of the dance studio he’s in and waves at the reflection, a bright smile capturing his face. he’s wearing sweatpants and a sleeveless black shirt, with a matching black mask pulled under his chin and some of his hair stuck to his forehead -- evident he’d already been practicing before he hit record. “i’m in the studio again~ are you surprised?” he turns the camera around to directly face him and moves the lcd screen so he can see himself as he walks in the direction of the speakers.
“i’ve posted some small covers on my ig story before, and you guys really liked them, so i thought: why not make a vlog showing my process? i’m learning this choreo for uni evaluations anyway and i thought vlogging would be fun. i’ve also been wanting to make youtube videos for awhile, so you guys have to watch, okay? if you want me to show the world how stupid i am, then you have to watch! promise!”
the video cuts to san in the middle of the studio, everglow’s bon bon chocolat playing in the background. he bounces on his feet as he does the choreography off the top of his head, missing a few of the moves but quickly picking it back up from memory. the video cuts again, this time with san laying on the floor with his laptop in front of him, watching the all the way through the part he’s covering before he jumps onto his feet and begins to practice.
the video fastforwards after that, showing san progressively running through all of the choreography and skipping back from his laptop to redoing certain moves a few times to make sure he’s got them down. when the video plays at a normal pace again, san walks over to where he had propped the camera up earlier (which was just on an old stack of chairs from a closet somewhere) and he claps in excitement, hitting the woah foolishly and laughing at himself right after.
“i finished learning the choreography!” he cheers playfully and grins. “now i’m gonna record the video for instagram. usually i have someone practicing with me that helps record, but today i’m on my own... anyway, i figured it out. so let’s go!” san steps back from the camera and positions himself for the instagram video, pointing directly at his vlog camera and winking as the music starts.
the video begins fastforwarding after the first few measures of the song plays, only teasing a bit the cover san was going to post in full at a later date. once the footage plays normally again, san finishes the last move and pauses for a beat before he falls onto the floor, yelling happily at being finished.
“ah, wait!” he breaks the silence after a few moments filled just with heavy breaths, soon scrambling up and running over to the camera with a smile. “wait, wait--- i have to show you how i recorded the video for instagram,” san giggles like a child as he grabs the camera off the stack of chairs and runs over to face it at the mirror again, revealing his phone attached to the mirror with a few layers gaffer’s tape. “i told you i’m usually not by myself, and i don’t have a stand or anything, so..”
turning the camera around to face him once again, san smiles and laughs, running his fingers through his messy hair. “i hope you guys enjoyed watching! seriously, if you watched all the way until the end... you have my heart. but please, keep a look out for my account! i’ll be posting a full cover on my youtube in the future!”
he waves at the camera and makes a cute face as he signs off, throwing a heart, “until next time~”

the thought of using his youtube account for something other than watching videos and listening to music was something he didn’t think would happen. sure, he’s had the thought in the back of his mind for a while, but never did he think he would use the account for making his own content. at least, not again.
he’s had a channel like this one before, but he was the fool that managed to delete his account as soon as the news broke out to him that he couldn’t attend k-arts. in that moment, he thought his entire life was over. he deleted the channel, feeling like there would be no point in even trying to have music content from him anywhere. and for the rest of high school, he tried to make the most of his memories there before he’d have to face the cruel reality of it.
though he’s not sure exactly what it was that made him want to do this, he thought of two reasons: one serious and another… kinda silly? the serious one was basically the inspiration he got from performing and watching the performances at winter singer. after experiencing the event, it made him think about why he loved music and performing again. not only was it because he enjoyed singing, but it was also because of people around him reacting to it. even if he didn’t win the contest, he still enjoyed how others reacted to his performance… as for the second reason? soobin’s tiktok followers have gained an interest in him. he personally thinks it’s outrageous, but at the same time… he’s not surprised? he’s still flattered, though!
doing this was… way more basic than what he used to do. since he’s been out of touch with making music, he wasn’t sure if he trusted himself with his own midi controller. “maybe in the future,” he thinks to himself, if this ever became more than a hobby to him. for now, he just wanted to record a cover with a guitar and upload it onto youtube with no special microphone or DAW or anything. just him and his camera… and maybe the usage of his video editor because he wants to be quirky and record a little video message at the beginning of it.
he knows how to play, thanks to the classes he took in high school that taught him how to. the memory of how to play chords is still fresh in his brain. warmups were a bit difficult, since he doesn’t usually do them unless he’s singing in front of people. but technically, he is doing that even if it’s a camera so he does warm up his voice and checks his diction, making sure the words he’s saying is understandable because the guy knows enough english to be able to speak it almost like a native.
it takes a couple takes, mainly because this was a one-shot cover and not him making separate recordings of the first verse and chorus, the second pair, the bridge, and then the last and final chorus. it does stress him out, but that’s why the last and final take felt like a victory win. he shouts in happiness before he hears his mother’s voice telling him to quiet down, in which he pouts and mutters about her being so bossy.
with a separate take and holding his camera, he records the little video message that he was going to put at the end of the video. “for the people that kind of want to know who i am,” he thinks to himself. as soon as he finishes the message, he turns off the camera and gets the sd card out to put into his laptop immediately.
when he pulls up his editors and watches the footage, he smiles at how the cover went well. however, when he saw the video message, he couldn’t help but cringe at how much he was practically rambling in it. “so this is why a lot of popular youtubers use jumpcuts, huh?” and with that in mind, he tries his best to not make too many of those cuts, but enough so that the video message isn’t practically a whole minute long. he plays it over again and watches the final result.
“hi, i’m yeonjun. it’s nice to meet you,” the video speaks, so far not making yeonjun want to throw his head into a wall. “this is my first video on this channel and… i think there will be more?” on-screen him laughs while real life him remains stoic. “so to those who have made it this far, thank you for watching my cover. please let me know if you like it. thank you~” wave and a bye. then the video ends. “good enough,” he mutters to himself. thank god he took out all the unnecessary ramblings about his life. otherwise, he’d never want to watch this video again.
after he exports the video, he uploads it onto youtube with a title that was the basic summary of the video. for the description? basically his video message but with less words. once the video uploads onto youtube and there’s a link to watch it, he clicks on it and takes a picture of it for his instagram. he’ll link the video in his bio eventually, but for now he’s gotta show it off in his story (💪💪💪). as soon as he gives a caption for the story post (“👀 link in bio!”), he closes his laptop and instagram before leaving his desk to lie on his bed and stroll through his twitter feed.

As an avid streamer, gamer or otherwise, it is important to listen to one's audience. Sometimes that may include doing challenges or trying out new things that have been suggested. She knew she wasn't obligated to do it, but she did ask her viewers what they wanted to see from her next. The lot of them wanted to see her dance, evidently, after finding out a few clips of her during the MGAs, her audience requested to see this side of her. Although, she would have preferred to show off her rapping skills at any given time- which her fans would know about since she does it anyways during her gaming stream- performing a dance cover had actually been fun.
Despite the fact that she didn't intend to stay in the university dance community after 'the incident', Olivia found herself enjoying it. So she stayed and even participated in some of their showcases. Eventually, she made a few friends- some were still sceptical of her, all of whom she really could not care less about- so it wasn't hard to gather a group of girls who could help her with this little request. Especially when she buttered them up by saying it'll help promote their little club activities.
It took them a few hours to finally settle on the song yet again Oliva didn't care what they went it. Preferring to allow the other girls to choose the song as a consolation for helping her do this. Then finally the remaining of the day to memorise the choreography and be able to perform it effortlessly. It helped a lot that she was with experienced dancers and her raw talent allowed her to keep up with them. Otherwise, this little gathering would have been frustrating to the other girls and embarrassing on her behalf.
They recorded a few sets and soon enough, much to her pleasure everyone including herself was happy with the final product. After thanking the girls, she promised to give them credit and their school a little shout out when she finally uploaded the video. It took a little bit of editing, whereby she added her signature opening and closing catchphrase, put up another ask for her viewers to answer if she should make a channel or segment purely based on her dancing and music. Having had so much fun making this video, it doesn't hurt to try and add something similar in her usual postings.
When Yoohyeon think back on the reason why she started using YouTube to promote her own skills and talents she can’t honestly say that she meant to make it big there, it has never been a genuine goal but ultimately it became a habit, a routine. She love to sing more than anything and can confidently say that she think that she is good, better than the average person, and it relaxes her to record, edit and upload videos for whoever is listening.
As of late, however, it’s been hectic. Yoohyeon was given an opportunity to move out from her parents’ house and she grabbed it without hesitation, thinking mostly about everyone else but herself. She wanted to relieve her parents from echonomical stress, and she wanted to help a dear friend in need. To her, it was a win-win situation, and she still consider it to be. Moving is stressful though, and time consuming, so YouTube has been put on hold.
“Hello, lovelies! You can surely see that I’m recording this video in a different environment and that’s because,” she pauses to make a drum sound along with drumming on the table with her fingers. “I have moved~ Wooho! I have finally settled in properly and I’m super excited to keep making videos for you guys from here. I’m still considering it I should make a house tour so let me know if that's something that you would like me to make.”
“Anyway, today I’m going to cover League of Legends’ brand new song! Shocking, I know, but I’m hooked on it. I hope that you will enjoy my take on Pheonix and don’t forget to hit that like button if you do,” she wiggles two thumbs up to the camera whilst chuckling softly in front of a recording camera. The intro come to an end and Yoohyeon break character, knowing that she has to edit the video later on either way and put in a short break there.
The instrumental begin shortly after she double click on the track and Yoohyeon is left with an ever so needed twenty seconds to shift into a new character, one that fit the mood of a strong song. It’s time to bring out all the confidence that she has, the eager and the strong aura that’s expected from a vocalist singing a song for the Worlds. If Yoohyeon could ever get the grand opportunity to perform like the girls from G-IDLE, she would die happy.
What are you willing to lose?
She begin with her head lowered, eyes closed until she finish the very first line. There are two rather different voices in this song but Yoohyeon figures that she can manage, she’s equipped with the ability to adapt and she intend to show just exactly what she got, almost as she does each and every time she post a vocal cover of any song. There is something about the songs that Riot release that mean something to her, something special, and it shows.
You cover your wounds, but underneath them
A million voices in your head that whispers “Stop, now”
Another twist of the knife, turn of the screws
It’s all in your mind and it’s fighting you
Arm yourself, a storm is coming
Well, kid...
What you gonna do now?
It’s your reflection looking back to pull you down
For a long time, League of Legends has been her way to relax, to wind down and disconnect from the real world when things become too much to handle-- and honestly, that happens too often. Not that Yoohyeon will ever admit to that out loud, but it does. Regardless of how much she loves her family, their situation stresses her out beyond belief and sometimes it’s certainly difficult to cope with, it’s difficult to stand in with all kinds of pressure.
So are you gonna die today or make it out alive?
She intends to make it out alive for sure, there’s no way that a little stress is going to throw her completely off of her feet. The words rolls off her tongue with little accent, watching all of those Netflix shows has definitely helped on her English, as well as having friends to practice with. A track like this truly gets her blood pumping, although she has to admit that it isn’t necessarily their best one, at least not in her personal opinion.
You gotta conquer the monsters in your head and then you’ll fly
Fly, pheonix, fly
It’s time for a new empire
Go bury your demons then tear down the ceiling
Pheonix, fly
Ever since the song was released, Yoohyeon has been singing it and already know it by heart and soul. She deliver the lyrics effortlessly with facial expressions matching the words, and it’s easy to portray the kind of dramatic character that hold an iconic fierce look. Before she knew it, the song come to an end and so does her act. Her features soften again yet hold a sense of pride, satisfaction and contentment.
