10.- LIFE, IN FRONT OF MY EYES. From the series #riverofashes. RIVER OF ASHES follows the imaginary flow of a life in Varanasi, from childhood to dust. The river of life reaches its end in Varanasi. At the shores of the Ganges Hindus submerge in fire to reach what we always were: ashes. Born directly from one of the five heads of Brahma that Shiva decapitated, Varanasi is the most sacred of the seven cities of Hinduism, where it is believed one can reach moksha. Through mystical fog that emanates from human carbon, glimpses of a city that lives capsized towards the holy river: houses and temples reach out to the ghats, where priests, families and observers gazed into the infinite horizon of its ripples. Boats tour tourists and transport precious wood that is sold at the price of gold for the fires. Fire in the twisted torches of the Arti, the sunrise and sunset prayers, and fire in the endless pyres consumed and reunited in the arché along the river. From fire, wood, ashes or water, the elements are the forces the inhabitants live by. • • • • • #riverofashes #photography #streetphotography #photooftheday #photo #travelphotography #travelingram #instatravel #india #varanasi #cinematography #cinematographer #filmframes #visualsoflife #ganges #ganga #incredibleindia #indialoveq (at Varanasi, India) https://www.instagram.com/p/BuwWX3mFGat/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1lte4makywpab
