do you have a favorite number?
mine’s always been 5 and the various multiples of it :3
MY FAVORITE NUMBER IS probably 8
the reason is kinda silly but for me, it's because i feel represented by it? i could reference you to reverse 1999's apeiron EP: Numbers for why this digit is important to me, BUT
initially this is because sqrt8 can be simplified as 2sqrt2, and these two numbers correspond to the coordinate points of π/4 on the unit circle (sqrt2/2)
now, how does this relate? π/4 in all quadrants is the halfway point between each fourth of a circle (every 90° or π/2), to which i interpret myself as falling just in line, not being a unique "point" to anything or anybody, it's just the "half-way" mark. π/3 is nearly there, while π/6 needs a little "more" (in relation to π/2)
not to mention how "simple" it is!
the x and y coordinates are the same (absolute) value, that being sqrt2/2, and its tangent PLUS cotangent is the easiest to remember (which is 1, because anything divided by itself is 1). this also means people usually devote less time to π/4 because it's simple, it's not as worth spending time remembering because it is much less "important", and it for some reason resonates with me
TLDR: sqrt8 has the numbers for cos&sin of π/4, which marks half of a quadrant resembling how i feel of falling short always halfway, it is easier to remember and so people will spend time with π/3 and π/6 (other 'people') more than they would with π/4 (me)
another new informal tag:
#river's math class
hi if youre following me or see this on your tl,
you get a r = 5sin(4θ) and x = 0{-.5>y}
(graph these on desmos)
Im going to nerd tf out and all of you will be subject to my math enthusiasm utc!
IS IT NOT THE COOLEST THING that to find ANY squared value of a number that ends with 5 is the easiest thing ever
all u have to do is literally remove the 5 and multiply the number left over x 1 more itself
So like 75^2 --> 7(8)=56
and then add 25 at the end so 75^2 = 5625 AHHH
GOES ON FOREVER TOO
SO 205^2 -> 20(21)=420 205^2 =42025
AHHHHHH AND THE NEXT PYTHAGOREAN DAY WONT BE UNTIL OCTOBER 24TH
(10/24/26) -> 10^2+24^2=26^2 (i WILL be celebrating that day)
AND THERES GOING TO BE A PALINDROME DAY IN PRIDE MONTH!!!! JUNE 20 (6/20/26 | 62026) AHHHH IM GOING TO LES OUT MY NUMBER FANATICISM AND HOPE THAT GIVES ME AURA WITH THE SAPPHICS
OH AND HOW THE SQUARES OF NUMBERS WITH 1'S IN ALL OF THE DIGITS (like 111) ARE ALSO PALINDROMES? as long as its under 10 digits! so 111^2 =12321
not to mention the only 2 multiplication days for this year is in two days (01/26/26) but then on february 13th! (02/13/26) Bc 26 only has 2 factored pairs (1, 26) and (2, 13)!
I LOVE PERFECT NUMBERS TOO: 6, 28, 496, 8128, theres maybe only 50 known perfect numbers but idrk, those are the 4 i know, 6 in my head is the best perfect number, bc not only did it fit the criteria for such (the sum of its factors/divisors = the number), THE FACTORS ALSO MULTIPLY OUT TO 6 (1 + 2 + 3 = 1 x 2 x 3)
Im more curious about irregular primes (r1999 i fear), 37 is the smallest but im not sure why they are irregular, i just know its related to Bernoulli
This is just about numbers btw i could go ON about algebra, i think i still got it after all this time, AND SHAPES! TRIANGLES ARE THE BEST SHAPE, WE'VE SEEN THEM PROVE THEIR WORTH IN ARCHITECTURE, CHANGE RECTANGULAR WINDOWS INTO TRIANGLES
