𝐒𝐇𝐄 𝐂𝐎𝐔𝐋𝐃 𝐍𝐎𝐓 𝐐𝐔𝐈𝐓𝐄 𝐆𝐑𝐀𝐒𝐏 𝐈𝐓 .   anthropologist   ,   woman   of   science  .   not   a   soldier   ,   neither   someone   who   had   never   been   openly   fond   about   the   military  .   amelia   preferred   spending   her   time   at   excavation   sites   in   far   away   countries   ,   occupying   thoughts   with   ancient   artifacts   rather   than   any   requests   that   seemed   to   be   anything   but   logic  .   when   finding   a   letter   addressed   to   her   with   the   stamp   of   the   air   force   on   ,   an   invitation   to   come   to   any   of   their   facilities   near   to   where   she   had   grown   up   ,   questions   arose  .   maybe   they   needed   consulting  .   FOR   WHAT   ? ?   as   far   as   brunette   was   aware   ,   those   people   never   showed   interest   in   anything   peaceful   ,   nor   in   what   she   made   her   money   with  .   except   .  .  .   holding   tighter   onto   her   bag   ,   memories   shaken   off   when   focus   wanders   outside   darkened   car   windows  .   the   rockys   were   a   sight   she   had   missed   deeply   ,   a   piece   of   art   painted   by   nature   that   always   made   her   feel   like   home  .   MAYBE   SHE   SHOULD   HAVE   STAYED   AT   THE   MUSEUM  .   reparing   the   exhibition   about   mesopotamia   she   had   been   working   on   for   months   now  .   transcriptions   ,   making   sure   everything   was   tagged   accordingly  .   that   was   where   amelia   belonged   to  .   an   uneasy   feeling   emerging   in   her   stomach   as   gates   were   opened   ,   rough   voice   demanding   her   id   to   quickly   take   it   without   showing   any   intention   to   return   said   item  .   great  .   handed   over   a   strange   pass   to   tag   to   her   buttoned   up   shirt   ,   the   urge   to   punch   herself   for   being   so   naive   grew   stronger  .   WHAT   WAS   THE   POINT   IN   ALL   OF   THIS   ? ?    shoved   forwards   to   an   elevator   ,   stoic   faces   looking   at   her   as   if   she   was   an   intruder  .   civilian  .   a   possible   threat  .   what   a   great   welcome  .   gaze   tucked   to   her   boots   ,   they   stopped   in   what   amelia   deemed   to   be   one   of   the   lower   floors   ,   probably   a   few   levels   underneath   the   entrance   surface  .   UNDERGROUND   FACILITIES  .   this   was   not   good  .   quick   steps   to   follow   the   .  .  .   whatever   rank   the   guy   had   ,   only   glances   could   be   taken   at   closed   ,   locked   doors  .   ❛   wait   here   ,   doctor   johnson  .  ❜    a   tiny   room   offered   ,   two   chairs   next   to   a   table   with   nothing   on   it  .   cameras   ,   watching   ,   observing  .   IF   THIS   WASN  ‘  T   A   RED   FLAG   ,   then   what   else   could   be   ? ?   a   short   nod   ,   heart   starting   to   hammer   against   her   chest  .   SOMETHING   ABOUT   THIS   WAS   OFF  .

      𝐈𝐓’𝐒  𝐓𝐇𝐄  𝐐𝐔𝐈𝐄𝐓  ,  𝐇𝐄  𝐈𝐌𝐀𝐆𝐈𝐍𝐄𝐒  ,  the  peace  that  settles  beneath  bent  and  broken  bones  ,  the  space  that  allows  the  mind  to  find  solace  .  here  ,  there  is  sanctuary  ,  a  far  distant  relative  to  the  lives  they’d  both  become  familiar  with  it  ;  something  he  longs  for  too  .

     seems  simple  enough  ,  how  long  has  he  craved  an  enclosure  of  the  mind  ,  something  so  casual  ,  something  so  …    easy  with  the  heart  of  everything  no  longer  lacking  of  straightforward  necessity  ?  a  hand  reaches  ,  resting  carefully  upon  her  shoulder  as  a  more  confident  expression  finds  itself  within  the  corners  of  his  mouth  .  ❛        you  are  allowed  to  be  happy  ,  wanda  .  you  need  to  know  that       ❜

      HE WISHES MELANIE WERE DEAD  . . .   it would have been an easier pill to swallow.    she wouldn’t have been the first person he loved whom he would have to bury :   he did it with his father and brothers,  and so he would have been able to do it with her too.    he tells himself this at night,  when sleep evades him and all he’s left with is the deafening silence of the caves and the memories of melanie.    what grand delusions he has.    it would have broken him eventually,  wrecked him beyond repair and left no trace of the man he had been before.

jared also wishes ian would leave him alone.    his positive attitude and attempts to bring wanderer out of the cold and into the warmth of jebediah’s community is the antithesis to his own.

if it weren’t for him,  jared would have been long gone,  resigned to whatever fate their dying world would give him.

HER TARDIS SINGS,     an  ancient  soothing  sound  that  lingers  in  the  air.     loss,    hope,    tragedy  and  rebirth  all  dancing  within  the  long  since  since  dead  language.    her  own  language.     some  days  she  longs  for  it     -    to  hear  the  ghosts  of  her  past  once  again,    but  rose  tinted  glasses  have  never  suited  her,     her  eyes  have  never  taken  to  them.  

if  there  is  anything  romana  knows,     it’s  the  atrocities  her  people  are  capable  of.    it’s  the  fact  her  seventh  skin  may  shine  of  innocence  and  hope  but  there  will  never  be  any  escape  who  she’s  been  and  who  she’s  lost.

❝   you  two  better  not  be  talking  about  me.   I  like  to  be  a  mystery.   ❞       the  ancient  woman  greets  instead  with  a  grin  as  she  half  dances  around  the  console,     wood  and  glass  covered  water  in  her  tardis  swirling  above  her  with  each  move  she  makes.

he  made  his  decision  and  he  won’t  take  it  back  ---  there’s  nothing  he  could  do  now  anyway  as  they  rest  upon  a  line  of  disillusion  ,  uncertainty  sitting  upon  their  chests  like  heavy  ANVILS  longing  to  break  apart  .  ❛    the  truth  is  ,  if  we  don’t  do  anything  then  a  lot  of  people  are  going  to  die,  and  i  won’t  be  able  to  rest  knowing  i  put  my  agents  at  risk  when  there  was  something  i  could  have  done  ,  don’t  tell  me  you  wouldn’t  have  done  the  same      ❜

BROWS  LIFT  SLIGHTLY  as she turns her head to regard emma.   she can see the  frustration  painted plainly over her friend’s face  (  clear  to  her  even  if  she  hadn’t  just  heard  it  saturate  her  tone ),   and cristina frowns,  despite the very  obvious  answer to that question.    

           ❛  because  you  are  so  stubborn  ?  ❜    the words are meant to be carried forward with a bit of  levity,   an attempt to lighten the mood,  relieve some of the  weight  that emma has been carrying on her shoulders  (   and  it  is  so  much,   so  much  to  carry  with  the  questions  about  her   parents,  the  worries  about  the  fae,   and  everything  that’s  been  going  on  with  julian  ).    it doesn’t quite land in the way she’d  hoped,  however,  the truth of what lies ahead of them seeming to hover like a  storm cloud  overhead.
