First morning of pride month this year and I'm nerding out over pterosaur digimon lmao
I feel like it's not praised enough how they made Rhamphomon, a rhamphorhynchus based digimon, evolve into Azhdarmon, an azhdarchid pterosaur based digimon
They had a pterosaur hailing from the earlier Late Jurassic period evolve into a pterosaur based on a family of pterosaurs belonging to the later Late Cretaceous period

One thing you should know about me is Rhamphomon/Azhdarmon is like
30% of the reason why I love Raito so much lol
I am thinking about it inthe context of boyfriends and Azhdarmon becoming more armored in a way to protect him and Tomoro because “this is Raito’s which means I must protect.”
Omg YES YES, like in your post Tomoro's Rhamphomon evolution was because they both wanted to find Raito so it has tracking capabilities.
Meanwhile Azhdarmon is, yes, armored, guarded and covered in spikes and prickly but as I mentioned recently, has a spot without spikes where Raito usually sits
A literal soft spot for the person they care about
If that's not Raito's mirror fucking reflection I don't know what is
I wish I could have gotten a better look at how Raito rides his digimon into battle, I though the back spikes would get in the way
Okay. I know I said in this post that Azhdarmon's neck spikes looked like they'll get in the way of Raito riding them but honestly that was... Kind of an oversight on my part since I was mainly basing that off of how Raito rides Rhamphomon in episode 24
He was sitting on their shoulders with his legs dangling, which is kind of an outlier to how he usually rides them closer to the center of their back (episode 18 and episode 33 for reference)
And well would you look at that, Azhdarmon actually doesn't have any spikes there!
I considered the possibility of this being a change (since I could have sworn that azhdarchid pterosaur had spikes galore) but nope they've never had spikes along their back (episode 19 for reference)
Which, honestly, call me slightly delulu but I find it kind of cute that they conspicuously don't have spikes around the area Raito usually sits
That's Raito's spot, no spikes there
